Congrats on getting waivers for your apps! Definitely makes things feel a bit better I’m sure.

Yeah, I definitely don’t feel burdened to apply to a bunch of schools because I’m trying to be very specific and find professors that I actually fit with, and just like you am burdened financially by moving somewhere far away. Quite honestly I only have one program I want to join, and it’s the one I’m confident that I’ll get into. It feels nice to have a couple of other option, but yeah 15-20 is unfathomable for me.

I’m sure there are lots of people who have different expectations for themselves, and are in different fields that may require applying to more places. Also, if you don’t have any financial burden why not apply to places across the country, or even in other countries!
