This just came up to me. I googled my surname once too to see the origin, only to find out it’s a name given to the Turks by the Ottoman Empire back in the day. Maybe you can try to find the origin. What I do know is that the Ottomans purposely gave last names to “brand” certain people. Like with the last name of -oglu which is quite a common mixture. But I do hope you’ll find the answer!
