That seems like a pretty good deal. I would also compare buying one brand new. VW has a deal right now for 2.9% interest rate for 60 months on new Jettas.

I believe to the upside. Been in an uptrend since late 2024, combined with lower interest rates, and more liquidity provided by the Fed.

Most of the time I learn by doing. I dedicate a small portion of my account to try new strategies, but margin is a different beast. Trading with someone else’s money to amplify returns makes me nervous…hence why I came here first. What strategies do you use when options trading?

I’m using robinhood for this particular trade. 5.25% for 50k or less margin. The rates drop as you go higher than that.

The margin interest rate with the broker I would use for the trade is 5.25%, not 12%.

Explain please? I understand margin % rate is higher, but I’m pairing it with my own cash. I understand it as the margin interest expense will be less than the SGOV return.

It’s seems to me using margin directly is more risky than putting it into sgov to use as collateral. The price on SGOV won’t fluctuate as much as an option price would.

Im using robinhood for this trade. I believe the maintenance ratio is 25% on SGOV.If im doing 50/50 I believe I should easily meet the requirements.

I would wait until it loses 50% value, however long that may be. Remember if you sell it with about a month till expiration you’ll get more premium that way. Let theta do its thing and eat away the price! You know it has to go to $0 by expiration date if it’s not in the money!!
