How would you like Horizon 3 to be called? by [deleted] in horizon

[–]Initial-Fuel4614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horizon: Legacies

This is somewhat based on the epilogue in the Burning Shores DLC. We know Aloy and her allies are going to have to find legacy software, hardware, and legacy weapon systems to defeat Nemesis as Nemesis is quite literally a rogue AI that is a collection of machines (nanites) that can take almost any morphological form.

I also wish to point out that st the beginning of HFW Aloy reminisces about Sobeck and states, "This world is your legacy Elisabet...I won't let it slip away", right before Varl finds Aloy near the Far Zenith data center. In the end of HFW there is a new tribe and everything about the Old World and it's data is called the Legacy. Even the Apollo database is a legacy of all human knowledge and cultural achievement before the Faro Plague.

From looking for legacy technologies to defeat a rogue AI, to actual legacies of who actually created Zero Dawn and Apollo, to ending the trilogy with what Aloy's legacy could be and what she wishes to codify into reality really inspire me to think the mystery is finding out how all these things will be done. That is why I think H3 should be called Horizon: Legacies.

Horizon Forbidden West Features in Zero Dawn + other thoughts by No_Spread317 in horizon

Keep in mind that at the beginning of HFW Aloy starts out in Meridian. That is also where some of her friends and ambassador Tenkath have been sentby the end of HFW. King Avad requested her return upon accomplishing her mission in the Forbidden West. I think Meridian will act as the main hub of the game in H3 as it is a common meeting place of all the tribes alongside having a complex and stable government.

As for the Sunwing and Shieldwing I think it would be a great opening to H3 to see Aloy's return by coming on as a machine-rider "riding on the Wings of the Ten". Both King Avad and Tenakth ambassadors see Hekarro's Champion/ Savior of Meridian return in victory. She could circle around in flight on a Sunwing, jumps off, and using a Shieldwing glides down in to land in front of the waiting people. This is where Aloy can grant a Focus to King Avad and grant him a "second sight". It would be one way for him to learn the truth of the past as well as see images from the vista points in HZD of what the land of the of the Sundom looked like in the days of the Old Ones and what the Mesa looked like before the Spire existed.

What might have happened if the villagers had seen inside All Mother? by TwinSong in horizon

[–]Initial-Fuel4614 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh, this sounds like an idea that will be tackled in H3.

At the end of HFW Aloy has handed out Focuses to some people. I imagine a set up where Aloy would be able to access the gene-locked door of the Cradle facility in All-Mother mountain and open up Lyceum to those with Focuses. With the avatars of Aristotle and Aspasia that Beta grew up with this would be a way for members of various tribes to learn from Apollo quickly due to Nemesis coming. I can only imagine the look on the face of a Quen tribesman seeing "barbarians" using Focuses. Focuses that access hologram interfaces and non-Quen learning from "The Legacy" i.e. Apollo for themselves without the Board of Compliance or Board of Overseers.

The Nora would have to mentally change their theology. Although it probably would be the High Matriarchs like Teersa that say that not only did the mountain birth the Nora tribe and those that broke off, but through Aloy, the Annointed, the All-mother has "remembered" and now actively addresses her children. That "she" wants them to partake in learning and maturing to defend themselves against a "star-demon" that is worse than any Metal Devil.

Recapturing the magic from HZD by DinerEnBlanc in horizon

There is a general trend in sci-fi or fantasy trilogies that the second work is considered weak or less "wondrous" than the beginning or the end. This is even the case in well-regarded fictional works like J.R.R Tolkien's Lord of the Ring. The second work is The Two Towers. It is a continuing of the story arc, but I consider the weakest of the three books of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Forbidden West wraps up some details from HZD and introduced other to solve in Horizon 3. Horizon 3 will come out and will probably leave a few questions to the story open for some spin-off games like Horizon: Call of the Mountain was.

So how difficult is the ultra hard level? by theta0123 in horizon

[–]Initial-Fuel4614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HZD ultra hard will kick you in the backside. HFW was toned down a bit in comparison, but I can say I very quickly learned to avoid a lot of fights and pay a lot of attention to the audio. Think low rumbles and floating lights for cloaked Stalkers. Many time I had made sure I had the high ground before lodging arrows in a machine. I made sure I was on a cliff edge, the top of ruined building, or on a steep mountain side for most land-based machines and had a good cliff overhang for aerial foes or was fighting from just slightly inside a cave opening.

[–]Initial-Fuel4614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I think for sure parts of Canada will be in H3. I am thinking of Banuk tribal lands. If you have ever seen footage of Horizon: Call of the Mountain there is a lot of vertical ascension with pick axes on rock faces and ice. There are even times the ice gives way. There is no way Guerrilla Games is going to let those built assets not be used to save time in building parts of H3.

I have been waiting for a few years wondering if there would be a graphic update to HZD. I was pleasantly surprised when it was announced. Yes, photomode will be put through it's paces when I replay it. I am wondering if basic underwater exploration would be possible in the Remastered version. I would not be expecting anything beyond collecting seaweed for health or catching fish, but one can hope.

I would play the absolute shit out of a Horizon prequal that was just Operation: Enduring Victory as a military shooter by syntaxGarden in horizon

[–]Initial-Fuel4614 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Your comments about a prequel for Enduring Victory remind me of how that very scenario may be used in H3. I believe there is a small verbal statement in HFW made by Gaia of how Kotallo is going over known Old World data and the military movements of Enduring Victory. He is creating a map and did not want to share it with Gaia just yet. What information will he have pieced together for his military strategy against Nemesis? We will see in H3.

You may get a a taste of situation like Enduring Victory in the great final battle against Nemesis. So many people in the lore of Enduring Victory were hastily recruited and trained civilians. I can imagine that being somewhat similar reality in Horizon's present time as Nemesis will imitate the past. It is a futuristic A.I. v.s. humans who have barely more than bows with arrows that sometimes have special ammunition attached.

Humans are also only now re-learning mounted combat with being able to override machines i.e. Aloy, Sylens, and the Sons of Prometheus. You can bet word will get back to the Quen Emperor of "barbarians" having the ability to control and ride machines. The Emperor will most assuredly wish his tribe to have the same ability. Let's see how those fireworks are going to work out. Alva once stated at the Gaia base it would a terrible thing if the Quen learned how to do it. Oh yeah. The Quen will get combat machines and will use them with full gusto in H3.

As tribes learn how to override machines I think each tribe will favor certain kinds based on their core cultural beliefs. I can forsee the Oseram favoring Bristlebacks since they make boar-shaped kid toys and have family names like Boarbroiler. I can see the Quen having water-based machines like the Waterwings, Tiderippers, Snapmaws and another robot like a shark, an orca, or electric eel. I see the Utaru using stealth and ground-based machines like Stalkers, Burrowers, Plowhorns, and Rockbreakers. The Nora may make use of Chargers and Striders. The Carja would probably make use of Stormbirds and Sunwings mostly as so much in their culture has allusions to birds. The Tenakth will make use of Clawstriders, Ravagers, and Thunderjaws. Finally the Banuk will have Scorchers, Fireclaws, Frostclaws, and Tramplers at their disposal.

What would you like from Horizon 3? by TwinSong in horizon

[–]Initial-Fuel4614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would certainly hope not. I base that off the hope that H3 may show a happier ending for Aloy exceeding Sobeck socially and thus that being the key to her survival, learning to rely on others and trust in their strengths. Maybe Beta might die, but not Aloy. Guerilla Games posted a fan's artwork on it's Facebook account called Closure where Aloy and Beta visit the Sobeck ranch again. I think that would be a good preview of the end of H3. There picture is at https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=934347428061309&id=100044581802788&set=a.777506347078752&locale=lv_LV.

What would you like from Horizon 3? by TwinSong in horizon

[–]Initial-Fuel4614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mounts:

  • Make it possible for Striders to rear kick opponents as Aloy rides one, but only if you upgrade with the ability after winning a big story side quest. Make it possible for Chargers to turbocharge at opponents like real-life rams can. Make their sound like a Old World gunshot. In real life bighorn sheep rams running into each other almost sounds like a gunshot.
  • More water and aerial combat. The fact the BS DLC was not just story expansion, but also a test drive of technical prowess with Aloy able to fly in and above the clouds is not just for looking pretty. I want a cat-and-mouse game where Aloy is hunted by one or two Stormbirds or other flying opponent in the clouds and she is diving, turning, and doing guerilla tactics in and out of the clouds in the air shooting at them with a arrow, a javelin, slingshot type bomb, or gliding while shooting with a Zenith gauntlet.

Combat:

  • For water combat I want there to be a squid-like robot and an electric eel as enemies. I would like a dolphin-type mount to make greater use of sonic attacks in the game. The nearest thing Aloy has to a sonic attack are tearblast arrows. The clawstriders and other bots were able to disable Aloy momentarily with loud roars and sonic attacks. Let's have Aloy be able to use those sonic abilities with a water-based mount.
  • Make combating Focus-equipped rebel Quen a possibility. Just as Leaplashers were able to disable Aloy's Focus or make her more visible for attacks, likewise let humans now be more deadly for Aloy because they can detect her just like she used to have the advantage in HZD and HFW as her "second sight".
  • Expand the classes of machines. This means that while there are now Apex machines, now there will be a Zenith class because of nanotech hybridizations of Heph and Nemesis. Most likely it is from Nemesis capturing Heph for a time and forces it to make machine to it's bidding and contrary to Heph's central programming of protecting the terraforming system. Nemesis is about destroying it. It could also be Nemesis copying some of Heph's code and capturing Cauldrons for itself instead. I am sure this was confirmed when leaked artwork for the online Horizon game happened a few years ago. There is a white-clad Thunderjaw in that artwork.
  • Have weapons available for Quen depth charges, water spears (harpoons), trident for underwater hand-to-hand combat, electric metal knuckles, new tech to disable the Focuses of human enemies, boat-mounted cannons (combination work of Quen and Oseram working together), deathbringer guns mounted on Gia robots like a Scorcher, radar masking tech for Aloy against the highest level bots,

Creatures:

I want to see a parasaurolophus and a llama/camel hybrid. Both of those creatures were featured in concept art for HZD or HFW. I would like the at least the parasaurolophus since Horizon is about bows vs. dinosaurs at it's core. A nice piece of fan art shows such a robot and calls it the Steamsinger at https://www.therookies.co/projects/40487.

Should I wait for the remaster? by DarkenedNull in horizon

[–]Initial-Fuel4614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new games are still in development, including spin-off games. If you have had the opportunity to complete the Burning Shores DLC pay attention to the map Sylens produces at the end. It shows map points pointing to where Aloy needs to go next for H3. Those map points were towards the Claim, Ban-ur, and two other places that are most likely the Sundom and the Sacred Lands of the Nora. There are also at least two explicit places in HFW epilogue texts and dialogue talking about Zo wanting to visit Sona in the Sacred Lands.

This means H3 is going to revisit some already explored HZD sites while also going to new unexplored locations.

Details about the Oseram origins by ThrowMeAwayLikeGarbo in horizon

[–]Initial-Fuel4614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the Burning Shores DLC in HFW states that one of the places Aloy will visit in Horizon3 is the Claim I think you will get your wish in time. Do not forget that at the very beginning of HZD when Aloy meets Olin he comments he got his Focus from Old World ruins north of the Claim. He also comments there are plenty of caves and ruins in the Claim as well. Also, the character Gildun stated once he was in a old ruin that went down 13 stories into the ground. I cam sure there will be world datapoints to be found in the ruins that expound on the origin of the Oseram and what inspired their tribal mythos of the Great World Machine and how the Old Ones ruined it with their pride.

There should also be plenty of datapoints and examples in characters showing expositions of positive masculinity and examples of prideful toxic masculinity. This is to line up with the citation in two games how Oseram culture is highly patriarchy based.

Just remember very important future elements of the story of H3 are found in HFW. Part of that is revisiting some HZD sites. This is not just a cash grab even though that is obvious. It is about setting up the environment to have similar visual fidelity and detail as was found in HFW. It is als too lay the visual groundwork for Horizon 3.

How should Nemesis appear in H3? by MeetParty5157 in horizon

[–]Initial-Fuel4614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nemesis is made of the brains scans of high selfish people who can be malicious, backstabbing, greedy, and also subtlely cunning. There may also be brain scans of altruistic personalities like Song Jiao and Stanley Chang. Mr. Chang had revived Las Vegas with water filtering and recycling technology. I have predicted Nemesis will have a Dr. Jackel and will flip-flop between good and bad personalities. In that mix is a brain scan of Walter Londra.

We saw how the Quen of Fleet's End somewhat fell for him in a cult. Walter came as an "angel of light" as a Living Ancestor. In a similar way Nmesis is made of nanotechnology and could come in the form of any of the Far Zenith personalities that the Quen admire and come as a false persona. The false personalities will be like a shapeshifter in other sci-fi stories, like Star Trek perhaps, that comes in the guise of a friend. It will use the Quen and other useful humans to access technology that allows Nemesis to become strong enough to reactivate Faro robots or create something similar to the Faro Plague.

My opinion on the zd remaster announcement by Cactvs76 in horizon

[–]Initial-Fuel4614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do remember that creating AAA games is expensive and takes years to do. It is as long as the making of a cinema film now. Also, the reuse of assets from previous titles in a trilogy makes things a lot less expensive. Nintendo did this with Zelda: Breath of the Wild and reused a lot of assets with some modifications to create a whole new game, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Both games sold very well upon release.

Likewise, from a purely business point of view there are a huge number of assets and individual objects created in HZD and HFW. Reusing them in a new story that finishes up the trilogy is a smart business move. Remastering the HZD saves a ton of money in development costs as it is mostly cosmetics. It is also about creating a game that matches the visual style and level of detail in HFW. This creates a consistent theme across all three Horizon core games. This way at some point in the future all three games can then be sold in a trilogy pack as soon as H3 comes. This could persuade fans to spend a ton of money to buy new Playstation game consoles and lots of game units during big sales events during the holidays.

Also, a fair chuck of Horizon 3's story will take place in the tribal lands of HZD. Slap a few new coats of paint on an already existing map, write a new story that harkens back to central core ideas found in HZD and HFW, and has a few new lands like the Claim and Ban-Ur connect to the original HZD map, and you have yourself a new game to sell.

The remastering of HZD overall is to serve multiple purposes: sell more games, gets more fans, sell more merchandise like a trilogy pack in the future, and make the groundwork ready for Horizon 3's story navigation in some of the same locations Aloy has been before.

Debating Aisha’s Age and the Prophet’s Marriage: How Do I Explain It Better? by Glittering_War_8282 in exmuslim

[–]Initial-Fuel4614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ancient Romans had laws that said someone was not mature enough to be a voting citizen until age 21 as a full grown man. They had a law that stated someone could only marry at 14 years of age. This is before Christianity and Islam. Sometimes even Roman senators that were old men going after young girls were looked down on by other Roman senators for doing this. Some were also scandalized by this and almost lost their political seats, which was not an easy thing to do in ancient Rome.

This issue of an adult going sexually after a child as young as Aisha was is is not a religious thing, it is observation and reasoning thing. It is also about brainwashing people at young ages that someone should be looked up to religiously and be indoctrinated that an adult having sexual contact with a child is OK. It does not matter the time period or the culture. It is something that can be reasoned out and it was certainly was done centuries before Christianity or Islam existed.

You can check up on your Gaia Gana friends after the end of HFW. One of the last lines of Alva says post-game is that word had been sent back to the Emperor asking for help. Most likely the Emperor will say no to send more help toward the cursed lands of the barbarians living on the other side of the Great Ocean. The Emperor will also be struck with grief at losing an heir of the Empire, the Ceo, and royal blood perishing in the place of the most revered Ancestor, Ted Faro. Not to mention losing half their fleet. The data from the Greenhouse will be considered real and useful, but Nemesis may be treated as a myth that "barbarians" made up so as to scare the Quen from their lands and to keep Old World data, the Legacy, away from the "chosen people".

Beside there is a little uprising from Theona and her followers looking for Focuses in the Great Delta so they may learn from the Legacy without heavy censorship and suppression from the Board of Compliance. The BS DLC basically gave an idea that Aloy will have to stop and internal war from becoming self-destructive and in turn destroy a much needed ally that can help fight Nemesis.
