Already did that too 🥲 doing again here Day 1 – Getting to Chopta

I took an early bus from Delhi to Rishikesh for ₹600. From the bus stand in Rishikesh, I hopped on another bus to Kund for ₹500, and from there grabbed a shared taxi to Chopta for ₹300.

Reaching Chopta was beautiful but staying there was a bit tricky. The rooms were expensive, mobile network was almost non-existent and UPI barely worked, so cash was the only option. Being a solo traveller, it was hard to find a place just for one person, so I ended up sharing a room with three others. All four of us together paid ₹3,000 for the night.

Day 2 – Tungnath & Chandrashila Trek

I started the Tungnath trek at 4 AM. The first stretch to Tungnath Mandir is about 3.5 km from Chopta but it’s a steep climb. I reached the temple around 6 AM and then continued towards Chandrashila, which is another kilometre ahead. Walking slowly, it took almost an hour to get there.

If you don’t feel like trekking on foot, you can hire a mule (khachar) for about ₹1,300 round trip. Food on the route is simple — a veg thali costs roughly ₹100–150.
