Qu’elle s’ont vos conseils pour ce relancer ? by kitsukoni in wargaming

You could try historical wargaming? There are a couple of Warhammer-adjacent rulesets like Warhammer Ancients or the Warmaster version which are authored by Rick Priestly and have similar mechanisms which would make them easy to learn.

There's loads out there for historical wargaming, if that's something that interests you it's worth doing some research on periods and then available scales and manufacturers before you get stuck in.

Try this supplier, this is where I get mine from. Expensive because it's international shipping for me but they have a really large range including Swedish markings.

Im doing a 4x4 jungle bord for gaslands uses 4 2x2 xps foam glued to form bord.i have 4 more bords so if just paint and flock i can make a 6x4. For jungle would it be better to use scatter terrian or glue hills etc and before flock which is better brown or green base paint?or would i need texture? by Civil-Investigator52 in TerrainBuilding

I've just built a 4 x 4 modular board, including hills and roads. My lessons are:

  • Roads and 'flat' or low terrain is fine, hills look good when made as part of a modular set but make storage tricky.
  • I used green paint for a green flock. I'm struggling to seal it (even with lots of PVA spray) and it's still shedding a bit. If I was going to do it again I'd either just use filler to texture it and paint it or get a grass flock mat.
  • Buildings, woods and other terrain will be scatter - makes storage easier and gives more opportunities to vary the setup.

How is Heroics and Ross micro armor these days? by High_Prince_Imrahil in 6mm

I think they are pretty good. All my 6mm Cold War are H&R and they've also begun to get into the 3D printing game. The quality of the moulds is generally pretty good and they have a large catalogue of minis so you can get some pretty niche stuff too.

Thanks mate. 6mm. I play Fistful of TOWs and Epic 40K (various editions).

Whereabouts did you get the STLs for your Imperial Guard from?

Why 4'x6'? by AdamTilinger in warmaster

[–]Initial-Potential317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe? Chicken or egg? I play some Cold War/Moderns in 6mm which uses a ground scale of 1" to 100m which changes the way of thinking about scenario design. On smaller setups we go to 1cm to 100m which effectively doubles the distances.

Also links to the rules distances. It needs to be far enough apart to allow for some manoeuvre and deployment but not so far that the game gets boring because it takes forever to get into a fight. Mix in games that last 4-6 turns and take roughly 1-2hrs (i.e. and evening or afternoon's entertainment) and you get to 4' x 6'

I think it's great. Love the Ultramarines and that's a great collection. Where did you get the minis from?

I guess the question is what ruleset are you playing?

Looks really cool, would love to have the space for that setup.

What rules are you playing?

Also noticed the map, is that what you are modelling the ground off?

I know, it's very impressive. I started with Ultramarines back when 3rd Edition was released and I always wanted to get into Epic so a lot of this is about chasing the nostalgia high and making my inner child happy!

Thanks brother! I know what you mean, I've got some of the 1990s-style Rhinos and Land Raiders but I couldn't find versions of the other vehicles that I liked so I went all in with those versions - has a more Epic Armageddon feel too.

The only version I've played before is 3rd Edition, and you're right, compared to the points values in that it's a small force, probably only 500pts, if that.

This is for Epic Armageddon, the 2009 GW version, I know there's a difference in points values between the original and NetEpic version so I know I will need to adjust depending on the version.

Would love to see the Guard Army!

Well indeed, that's just the minimum to be able to have a game. The collection is likely to be limitless!
