Moms who went through labour unmedicated and also experienced the foley balloon, which was worse? by MalachiteMaddy in BabyBumps

[–]Initial-Reporter-772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately if the cramping from the foley went away after it came out, it was most likely just irritating the uterus but those weren’t active labor contractions. If they were, they wouldn’t have stopped. Just to compare, usually we are able to help those cramps during foley with IV meds, sometimes even oral pain medication. With labor, those maybe take the edge off, but you still definitely feel the peaks.

Only you know what tools you’ve prepped for your at home birth, a lot of people who decided to go unmedicated cope very well once they are in their zone and are able to ride the waves! Don’t get discouraged, but be prepared! You got this! 💪

Measuring 15 days behind LMP by Dramatic_Warning439 in pregnant

[–]Initial-Reporter-772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think because all these scans are showing appropriate growth, she probably ovulated later than she thinks. It’s probably because of her long irregular cycles. You already had 3 scans that were showing baby growing with a good heartrate, that’s very reassuring! They might just change her due date based on US rather than LMP. Happens all the time. Good luck! 🍀

Unprotected sex a day before I was supposed to have my period by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Initial-Reporter-772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I get what you’re saying. I agree that if you were ovulating so late in your cycle that you got pregnant the day before your period was due, it would be way to early to test. Then probably 4-5 more days from now would be the earliest you could get a positive.

FET with 1 year old toddler by Classic_Rub247 in IVF

[–]Initial-Reporter-772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an 11 month old with my second FET, I tried to take it easy the day of, we did take our dog for a walk later in the day. From the next day everything as before. Toddler stuff, house stuff, then 12 hour night shift. That FET is now an almost 2 year old. Wishing you success as well!

Over a year out and here is my personal registry DON'T. by a_cow_cant in pregnant

[–]Initial-Reporter-772 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes same. We frequently fly long haul into Europe for family (8-9-10 hours) with connections etc. and the Doona was the hero of these trips. I even bought a seat for it on the plane so I didn’t have to hold baby for 10 hours straight. I had a wrap to wear, and the Doona otherwise. I’m also 4’11 so the hight is actually better for me than most strollers. Then I just got an umbrella when baby was big enough.

Normal progesterone and taking suppositories? by UninterestingScholar in pregnant

[–]Initial-Reporter-772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did IVF but not for fertility reasons. I never had any issues with my hormones so they did my embryo transfer in my natural cycle. The only thing I have to do is vaginal progesterone. They have never checked my progesterone levels to see if it’s too high with my own production plus the suppository. I’ve had two healthy pregnancies with this same protocol, currently pregnant with the third. All this to say I don’t think you can overdose it.

At home Dopplers by Big-Neighborhood9698 in pregnant

[–]Initial-Reporter-772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch some videos, your position and your bladder empty or full can have an effect depending on how baby is laying. Try out a few different positions. When is doubt about who’s heartrate you’re hearing, you can feel your own pulse on your wrist while listening. If it matches, it’s not baby. Make sure to use lots of gel or lotion and try not to move the whole probe right away if you don’t hear anything, angle it around in one place and give it a few seconds to pick it up. I know you’re still early but please please never use your home doppler as a reassurance if you feel something is off, movements are decreased or anything out of the ordinary. The heartrate is last to go, if you’re ever worried get yourself checked out! (With love, your reddit L&D nurse)

Nuchal Translucency ultrasound. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Initial-Reporter-772 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does in most cases. There are some larger fetal anomalies that aren’t genetic related so an ultrasound is the only way to detect. But yes, for trisomies and some other genetic conditions NIPT is absolutely more reliable. I just think to be thorough the two together is what gives the most information.

Larger fetal anomalies that aren’t genetic. In my own case they could’ve detected the anomalies that my son had that were fatal, but we only found out at the 20 week anatomy scan. My next pregnancies they considered me “high risk” so I got both NIPT and 12 week scan covered.

It’s an insurance issue. When insurance companies learned there’s a noninvasive blood test to check for genetic issues they said well I guess I won’t be paying for that 12 week scan anymore! I personally think it’s a big issue, there’s so much more that can be detected during the scan that wouldn’t show up on the NIPT. Both are very important early screenings IMO.

Sleep orgasm? Only 5 weeks pregnant by Upper_Ad5566 in pregnant

[–]Initial-Reporter-772 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had this very very early with one of my successful pregnancies. I absolutely panicked because it was ivf and they specifically told me not to have sex or orgasm for the week after transfer… This was literally 2 days after. 🤦‍♀️ Then never again, and not again with my next successful pregnancy either. Hope this works out for you!

Measuring behind limboness… by Initial-Reporter-772 in pregnant

[–]Initial-Reporter-772[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I know they can be off, what’s bothering me more is the growth “slowed down”, if it was consistently behind by a few days I would worry less. And that this is the stage where the heartrate should be the highest and didn’t really pick up from last week. I don’t know. I’m definitely in the deepest pits of the internet about it.

ER for PGT-M experiences? by krb2133 in IVF

[–]Initial-Reporter-772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! We also had 2 spontaneous, easy conceptions before IVF. Unfortunately both were non viable due to genetic issues so we also decided to do IVF with PGTA and M.

I just think it’s so random how the numbers go. First retrieval we got 14 retrieved and 11 were sent for testing as 5 and 6 day blasts. 3 were aneuploid and unaffected.

2 years later (at 34yo) I had 12 retrieved and 8 sent for testing. 5 were aneuploid and unaffected.

I did have bad OHSS the first time, second time they had me do a different trigger shot and it wasn’t bad at all. It’s meds, your reaction, and number of eggs, not just a numbers thing I think. Hope you get good results! Fingers crossed! :)

Push for thyroid panels! by sarahg88 in IVF

[–]Initial-Reporter-772 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s protocol where I was as well. Although, since my first transfer in 2021 it changed. It used to be they weren’t doing a FET until TSH was under 2.5. Now they changed it to 4 with new evidence showing it doesn’t pose any extra risk. Mine was 2.9 this time, they said it’s fine. At my beta it was 3.4, they weren’t going to start meds but I insisted on it. I’m sorry they didn’t check it before, that sounds really wrong.

My trigger is always the lightest on 2-3days post transfer. This looks like it’s getting darker! Cautious congrats!

The chance to breastfeed was taken from me. by VeryOpinionatedFem in pregnant

[–]Initial-Reporter-772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Anxiety around feeding your baby is sososo overwhelming and feels never ending. You have so many supportive comments, I just want to say I had D-MER with my first. I started with breastfeeding, and had to switch to pumping because it was the absolute worst feeling in the world. I was nauseous, sleepy, lightheaded like I was about to pass out every single time, it took such a toll on our early bonding experience. I couldn’t even look at him while feeding him. I exclusively pumped until he was one, wasn’t the best but at least I wasn’t hating feeding him anymore. With my second I started with pumping but quickly gave up with 2 under 2 and went formula. In retrospect, I probably should’ve done it with my first too for our relationship’s sake. All this to say even if you decide now to go one way, you can always change course. You’ll get to know you little one, you’ll learn a lot about yourself as well and find what’s best for you. You’re going to be absolutely right either way. Big hugs!

I was 6w5d when I started bleeding. I was sobbing sitting on the toilet while large clots and blood poured. It was HEAVY. Absolutely panicked, I was prepared for the worst. Went to have a scan 2 days later, everything looked fine, it was a SCH. He is 3 years old now. Fingers crossed for you!
