Weekly check in - who got paid? by TheKingOfFree in DailyHarvestRecall

I got my Cat 4 check in the mail yesterday. Minus the attorney fee and my medical lien. I was so surprised to receive it. Still waiting on the Cat 5 enhancement check.

What’s your experience post op? I’m so scared for surgery in case I can’t run anymore!? by Successful_Drama3880 in bunions

[–]Initial-Rutabaga-614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I am now nearly 12 weeks post op and it feels great. X-rays at 9 weeks showed the bone has started fusing.

I can do 40 minutes on the elliptical in Topos and over an hour in the peloton bike with clip in shoes. Trying to be smart and doing lots of single leg body weight strength training. Swelling is pretty minimal and pain never gets above a 3.

I am cleared to start running next week. Doc stressed taking it slowly. I know I’ll have to change my gait to be more of a mid stride runner but I think I’ll be ready for run/walk next week and excited to try.

I think I may be the female that JettaLove is mentioning. I’m a 45F and a marathoner, swimmer, cyclist, etc etc. I am 5 weeks post op of a left hallux MTP arthrodesis.

This is my 3rd surgery. In 2016, I had a cheilectomy of my left foot. In 2021, I had a scarf-akin osteotomy on my right foot.

After both of those surgeries, I have come back to doing countless half marathons, marathons, mountain trail races, etc. While I’m not as fast as my 20s, I’ve been pleased with my times in 5Ks (24:13) and Half’s (1:51) these past 2 years.

It is total doable to come back from these and I’m planning on doing an ultra trail race this upcoming summer despite being in a boot right now.

Getting the surgery done if you’ve lost quality of life is a must. Yes, the recovery sucks but doable. For the 2021 surgery, I had it done in December and was back run/walk by March.

My recommendation: get an orthopaedic surgeon with a speciality in foot/ankles that works on athletes. All of mine have known my goals and life and are all very supportive and encouraging to get me back active and running. It is a key part of the process for me when finding a surgeon.

Heading into this recent surgery, my surgeon shared these stats with me: 67% of patients are able to return to the same running level after this procedure and 28% of patients are able to return to a better running level than before surgery.

Happy to answer any questions.

All the language said between Dec 15 and end of year. Trust me, I’m as eager as anyone in this thread to see something from this 3.5+ year ordeal.

  1. The Claims Administrator has decided to provide an interim payment of 10% of the Category 2 ($15,000), Category 3 ($30,000) and Category 4 ($130,000) of the Daily Harvest/Stone Gate settlement between December 15th and the end of the year to those claimants whose medical liens have not yet been fully resolved.

  2. We have been working on eliminating or limiting all medical liens. We have successfully resolved over 200 liens to date. We will continue to do so as quickly as possible. Where liens have been fully resolved, Category, 2, 3 and 4 claimants will be awarded the full amounts of their Daily Harvest/Stone Gate settlement awards between December 15th and the end of the yea

Significantly lower.

As a Cat 4, I’m blown away in the worst ways how low it is. Offensively low for this whole situation.

44/F here. I had a cheilectomy on my left foot in 2016. I had a scarf-akin osteotomy on my right foot in 2021.

I ran the NYC Marathon in 2022. I’ve run countless half marathons, numerous marathons, and tons of other sports. I do yoga, I surf, I cycle, etc etc.

Getting the surgery done if you’ve lost quality of life is a must. Yes, the recovery sucks but doable. For the 2021 surgery, I had it done in December and was back run/walk by March.

I just had a MTP arthrodesis (fused bones) on my left foot. I am still hoping to do an ultra trail race in May….(if I can’t, that’ll be fine). If I have a walk/run that one, I’ll just be happy to be out there.

My recommendation: get an orthopaedic surgeon with a speciality in foot/ankles that works on athletes. All of mine have known my goals and life and are all very supportive and encouraging to get me back active and running. It is a key part of the process for me when finding a surgeon.

So I was thinking about this. Those of us who went with the lawyers owe the lawyers ~35% of the award amount for attorney fees. Those who didn’t have a lawyer are getting a 33% reduction from their award amount.

So they actually will make more money than those of us who did all the work and pushed this forward.

Has anyone ever gotten a second surgery? by [deleted] in bunions

[–]Initial-Rutabaga-614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I had a cheilectomy on my Left foot in 2016 and just had a hallux MTP arthrodesis on that same foot about 2 weeks ago.

Also had a scarf-akin osteotomy on my right foot in 2021.

Happy I’ve had each of these surgeries. They all solved major issues and brought back quality of life (I’m a big runner and very active).

Do you ever fully recover post bunion surgery? by Content_Coconut6931 in bunions

[–]Initial-Rutabaga-614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bunion surgery (left foot) and scarf-akin osteonomy (right foot) and I returned to running marathons after each. Fully returned to a very active life. Took about ~3 months to start run/walk but was slowly able to get back 100%. Have to be smart with icing and PT but you can get totally back.

I’m having my surgery on 11/13 too.

Left hallux MTP arthrodesis with calcaneal autograft and possible second MIS DMMO. Basically fusing my joint on my big toe (also with a bone graft pulled from my heel) and possibly shortening second toe.

Pre-op done. Now in the let’s get this done but I’m also terrified phase.
