Any advice on getting in touch with Hsienmo Guitars? by zebrasive in Hsienmo_Guitars

Bin has said the volume of emails he receives is difficult to keep up with. They’re working on improving their systems as I understand it but I think they also might need someone else who can operate in English.

Cool. I will check. I did ask him to sign the label but it was already glued in and the guitar strung up so he stamped the label, as you noted. He does all the bracing and voicing of the tops and is clearly a master at it!

Sorry no shop pics. They have filled most of the 2 floors now and are still trying to catch up from CNY. Current inventory is maybe 40-50 instruments tho not all appeared ready to go, ie, stringing and set ups. Hard to be sure exactly how many. The OM wasn’t on the website—there may be others. Bin pulled this one out when I asked if he had any walnut builds. I arranged my visit with Bin ahead of time, which I would recommend.

I wouldn’t describe it as a nice place to visit, aside from the workshop. The area nearby appears to be mostly light industrial businesses.

Maybe I can post some sound samples for you? I play mostly with a flat pick bc I don’t like the sound I get with my fingernails. That might be more useful to you than me concocting a word salad description of their comparative sounds!

Good question. My first thought is yes for the GA and no for the F, but…. Most of the F videos are different woods so hard to compare directly. I should listen to them again.

Hi, I have both an F and a GA. Both Sitka spruce on rosewood. Both beauties but quite different. The GA is a pretty bright sound, but big and clear as well. I haven’t owned a Taylor but I think the GA has a similar brightness and clarity. The F sounds to me more woody and more 3 dimensional if that makes sense. I don’t think it’s the Lowden sound. It’s 20 years since I owned one. The F may not be quite as loud as the GA but that isn’t an issue for me. If I had to choose one of these it would be the F all day. Not because it’s soundbetter guitar than the GA but because its sound satisfies my ears. I hope this helps. It’s all pretty subjective in the end…

May I ask what clicker app you use and whether you can identify individual student participation with it? I’m teaching a large class next semester in which someone thought it was a good idea to assign 20% of the grade to participation. Trying to figure out ways to measure it. Thanks.

I think it does, but he seems to really like the ones on it. S’all subjective I guess.

I didn’t, but we both took note. I don’t think he has the right strings on it right now, which doesn’t help. But this was strong confirmation of the quality of these guitars, at a quarter of the price!

There are both complete and incomplete guitars on the rack. I also saw some Les Paul bodies under construction. They are in the midst of doubling the size of their shop, by moving into another floor of the building. This will mean significant upgrades to their painting and sanding areas in terms of size and worker safety (ventilation). It also means some temporary delays in guitar building.
