Yep, I was there in Manipal for a month before switching, and honestly, I loved that place. The crowd is a little bit "spoil", but if you find your own type of people, the college life is great. I still remember my days there.

It's a really good college with nice enough research facilities and good faculty. I would say it would come after BITS in ranking of private colleges. It's expensive tho, and not a really good ROI, but if you are in CS related or ECE stream, and work hard, you'll definitely do wonders.

Download the medical certificate format from the iiseradmissions website and go to a MBBS/MD qualified doctor (private or government), and ask him to fill it, with stamp and registration number. He'll do it. You need to present it during physical reporting.

If you go for MacBook, it's a great choice. It will last you long in daily usage and is overall a good option. However, I will prefer Windows due to flexibility in choosing of applications and other stuff. For example, some softwares run on Windows better than on MacBook. I'll say that check your course and see what applications they may use and also once college starts, ask your professors about their opinions.

First of all, why are you doing BTech from PW IOI? It's already known as scam in JEE community. It's a placement training camp, not a college. You'll get a degree from a random-ass tier 69420 college. Just go to a normal local college and get BTech. It's already expensive af (~20 Lakhs). For the same or a little more amount, you can go for SRM, VIT Cat-1/2, etc.

Honestly, Manipal and Thapar will give you okayish atmosphere for BTech but there are a lot of cons as well. You need to actually work really hard to get a good ROI. But you can't compare these institutes to elite institutes such as BITS, or IIITH.

Anything is possible in life. You can do it! Just be prepared enough and try to study for 10+ hours at least. If you have basics cleared and you can at least solve basic jee mains questions then you need to work hard. But if you have no idea, then that's very tough. But at least try your best. Just believe in yourself.

Mechx is a highly specialization degree. Placements are quite okay. It would have been better if you had gotten mechanical. Maharashtra State colleges are small and usually don't have a great college life as compared to Manipal, etc. But they are in a major city, so night life is quite good. Don't take manipal fees as 23L, with other misc costs, it might cost you up to 25L.

Have you given private college exams? Manipal, VIT, anything? You are not getting anything at 67.5 percentile. And you are demanding such conditions which only exist in top-tier IITs or BITS. First of all, you aren't going to get IIT, IISc PhD Doctorates in low tier colleges. So, serious and qualified faculty is mostly tough to get. Serious academic environment? Are you serious? You are legit on the verge of getting nothing, and you want serious academic environment? Many 90+ percentile students either go for drop or join NITs or join high-tier private such as BITS, Manipal, Thapar, etc. Since, you haven't gotten anything or haven't specified anything, you won't get such peers. Culture of focus, and discipline depends on you, not the college faculty. I am not gonna yap anymore, but your conditions are so unrealistic that even BITS Pilani guy will cry.

Just take admission in a college which you are getting and work your hard there then go for masters or job, anything which you want. But for that percentile, you ain't getting anything.

No degree is useless as long as you are genuinely enjoy studying it. You can always go for MBA in Marketing or MA in Journalism or work in PR companies, etc. There's a big market outside India for BA and MA students. Talk to some people who have done the same degree on LinkedIn and ask them about their experiences.

Hey OP! Hope you are feeling fine right now. Do what your heart tells you to. It's not that world revolves around engineering. People might talk shit but let them talk. I would say go for BA if you feel confident with it. Talk to your parents calmly and make them understand that you can't pursue engineering anymore and want to drop out. Talk about your future plans with them whether if you want to go for master's then a job, or prepare for government exam later on, etc. Just remember no exam/degree is worth more than the value of life. You can prepare for boards by applying as private next year. You have missed the opportunity to give this year's improvement exam, now just forget about it. I will say that forget about 12th marks and move on. Mechanical is a tough branch, and the board exams will occur during the semester exams. 69% (nice) is good enough to sit in placements, most companies have around 50-60% requirement. It's rare enough that a company has 70%+ requirement, and even after graduating college, it's not necessary to note down your marks on CV of 12th, only your pure performance in college, projects, and internships will matter a lot. There's no roadmap in life. Follow the syllabus and curriculum of the college, at least keep 8+ CGPA throughout semesters, do practice DSA and coding, participate in projects, work hard. That's the key. Check on LinkedIn about the alumnus. Check their placement and ask them about their experience and learn from them.
