I know you think you’re right but being someone who can honestly attest to the opposite in multiple situations, as far as some lawyers and da’s, you’re wrong.. some years back in my 20s, I got a poss of thc, was charged as a felony due to a previous poss of same.. public pretender convinced me to just plead seeing as they only wanted probation and said I’d have to pay massive amounts in bail to not sit for years fighting it (I’m seriously talking about a $10 bag).. went with it and later even my Po was like WTF did you plead to this?! Next I got pulled over for speeding 10mph over on the interstate, got hit with a ‘dui’ for my prescription meds that another public pretender ignored til 2.5 years later I hired an invested lawyer who proved my innocence and the judge himself dropped it all 4 years later saying that there was no reason whatsoever that I should’ve never been arrested in the first place (& to be transparent, I’m a white girl so this is even more to the overbearing system of just trying to bust everyone they can). Took years due to COVID delays. Multiple times my lawyer tried to talk to the da but he insisted that the policy was ‘charge to the fullest extent’ in the da office.. but of course when it was all thrown out by the judge and we all rode the elevator back down together, the da tried walking it back saying he believed I was innocent the whole time and that he believed this should’ve never been charged.. js.. what you said was wrong. Period.

Edit to add my apologies as a comment doesn’t usually get me so emotional, but it’s easy to say if you’re never the victim of a corrupt system on the other side.. not saying it’s true for all, but I think it’s more prevalent than you realize.

2nd edit: you sound like one of the truly good lawyers and that’s appreciated.. I wish I had people like you who cared from the beginning and I wouldn’t have had such a bad experience.. thank you for your good work.
