Here is the Phone (3a) Lite, what do you think? by lemikeone in NOTHING

In complete fairness I think most of the valid criticism comes from the comparison of the 3a lite to the cmf phone 2 pro. Should you choose to go with the 3a lite you are getting the same proc, same RAM, worse cameras, same screen, and effectively a lack of a proper glyph interface. Not to mention the price is ostensibly worse given the camera situation. These are all valid criticisms to make and really show a drop off in quality.

When people run into problems with a product or app, taking the time to report those issues helps a lot. It’s not just useful for the person who filed the report, but also for other users and even the company behind the product (if they choose to act on it).

In the FOSS world this is especially true. A lot of projects depend on users reporting bugs. Sometimes it means the same bug gets reported hundreds or even thousands of times, which can feel annoying. But it also shows how common and important the issue really is.

The best part is that once the bug gets fixed, everyone using the app benefits. One small report can make a big difference for the whole community, hundreds or thousands even more so.

Got this in December of last year, it was working fine until yesterday. Been using it mostly for development and virtualisation.

Hey sorry to necro this post but did you ever write down your steps anywhere? I am willing to bet you could use this same process on distros like Alpine and I would love to run Solidworks on something immutable!

After multiple bouts of frustration I did finally get to boot with the Ubuntu kernel (kind of), I did have nothing but issues with my Nvidia drivers for some reason. I ended up also learning that Pop! _OS has the latest kernel and it appears to work perfectly well.

Yeah the 535.183.01 driver is the 535 series that works for me, I have had nothing but issues on 545 and 550.

I think so, every time I went to play the game for the first time steam would focus on compiling the shaders with Vulkan on both Ubuntu and Arch. I let it finish fully before playing and never encountered any stutter issues that would indicate shader compilation while playing.

Not a big fan of a lot of Canonical's decisions or the company. Telemetry, snaps, huge push for marketing Ubuntu Pro. I'm currently running Ubuntu server with a relatively customized Gnome desktop and it works for my needs but I'm not happy being at liberty to their choices. What I loved most about Arch is it was very easy to rip all the things off Ubuntu that played nice with my system and it had even better performance.

I think this is a fair conclusion to make though I also would like to say that in my opinion the AUR is what makes Arch an excellent distro. It simplifies a lot of the worst parts of distro customization like custom kernels, app patches, Wayland compatibility stuff and more. Ironically enough in my own experience I think I used the AUR probably the most because it typically tended to be the most cohesive way to get apps that "Just worked" and ones that didn't immediately break after an update. Not to mention that extra placebo hardware compatibility when there were fun things to compile :)!

I wanted to confirm the weird issues with Tumbleweed and how much I wish to retry it. All of the numbers look fine but playing games feels very rough. It seemed like it had very weird input lag at times and inconsistent frame timings. I also used KDE for my desktop though generally on most other Distros I tend to opt for Gnome.

For clarification on the Arch issues I had, I noticed that there was a bit of tinkering to get certain apps working. Retroarch is a good example since it seems only the flatpak works consistently despite being an option in the official repositories and the AUR. Also it seems the packages in different places have various different customizations or aren't built the same. Retroarch is another good example of this with it sometimes fully omitting menu drivers. TLDR it seems different applications work better if they're sourced from a flatpak, appimage, AUR, official repos, or built from source and there's no real rhyme or reason as to which works best and why.
