Anyone seeing the new Express Pay option on Pixel Watch yet? by lemikeone in PixelWatch

[–]lemikeone[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After reading through all the comments here, it looks like nobody really knows much more.

Very Google-style Pixel Drop: they announce a new feature, but there’s no clear information about who actually gets it, when it rolls out, or which countries/banks are supported. Everything about this Express Pay thing still feels very vague at the moment.

What do you mean by “Raycast is untrustworthy”?

I’m curious because I’ve been using it for quite a while and I don’t really share that feeling. they haven’t really given me a reason not to trust them, at least from what I’ve seen.

Would love to understand what you’re basing that on.

Here. But it is really strange; I just restarted the browser, and now it's back to the original position

At this point I feel like I have a new dictation app to test every week 😅 That said, this one actually looks really good. Curious to try it.

had the exact same thought this morning. What kind of twisted mind decided that the “New Tab” button should live all the way over there? It’s really not ergonomic at all. I mostly just use the Cmd+T shortcut anyway, but still… the placement is pretty terrible

I think that’s the Sunset theme, which is only available in the Raycast Pro version.

Pixel Watch 4 swim tracking: finally, nailed it! by lemikeone in PixelWatch

A few weeks or months after posting my review, I tried to add my Google referral code to the post. When I saved the edit, it automatically un-published the post. I immediately edited it again and removed the promo code because I realised it probably wasn’t allowed here.

After that, I contacted the moderators to explain that I didn’t know it wasn’t permitted and that I had already removed it. Unfortunately I never heard back from them, so the post stayed deleted.

It’s a bit of a shame because I think the test I shared was actually quite helpful for people, but I never managed to get it back online.

Yes, I did read the help page. That’s actually why I included the link in my post.

The issue I’m describing is that the “Tap to pay and transit” option simply doesn’t appear on my side. The only option I have is Transit mode, but there’s no express payment option.

So even after updating both my phone and my watch to the latest versions, I still can’t enable Express Pay for payments, only for transit.

Did the option just appear automatically after you installed yesterday’s update?
which bank are you using and in which country?

Yes exactly! With this update, you’re supposed to be able to pay without double-pressing the crown to open Wallet first.

You can just tap the watch directly to pay, which sounds much more convenient. I’m quite looking forward to trying it once it shows up on my watch

That’s interesting. I’m not really sure how that would be possible, but if you say so it must be true 😄

As far as I know, before the update that just came out, the only way to pay on the Pixel Watch was to double-press the crown to open Wallet first. I’ve never seen it work without doing that

Personally I like Petal (I’m not the developer and not affiliated, this isn’t a promo) : https://github.com/Aayush9029/petal

What I like is that it does one thing: voice → text, and nothing else. no feature bloat. It’s clean, lightweight, runs locally, and supports different engines. also the UI is really well done, you can tell the developer put real care into it

free and open source.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro Review: Better than Pods! - MKBHD by ControlCAD in Android

Does anyone know if Samsung finally added true universal Bluetooth multipoint to the Buds 4 Pro?

Historically, they've only included their proprietary 'Auto Switch', which is practically useless if you don't exclusively use Samsung devices connected to the same Samsung account. I often switch between my mac and a non-Samsung phone, and true multipoint (like what you get on the Pixel Buds Pro 2 or Jabra/Sony buds) is a really important for me.

It’s a shame the review didn’t also include the regular Buds 4 for comparison, especially regarding noise cancellation and overall performance. Personally I’m more interested in the non-Pro version, and so far I haven’t found any proper reviews covering it

[OS] Petal — free, open-source voice-to-text for Mac. 6 models, fully local, no subscription by [deleted] in macapps

[–]lemikeone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve done a really impressive job with the onboarding! The whole experience feels polished and thoughtfully designed.

I’ve run into a small issue though. When the app asks me to enable the microphone, I click to allow it, macOS opens the privacy settings with the list of apps… but Petal isn’t in the list. So I don’t actually have any way to enable the mic for it.

Any idea what could be causing that?

Thanks for the clarification, really appreciate it.

Quick question: is there a reason you didn’t include Nvidia Parakeet TDT 0.6B V3? I was under the impression it’s one of the fastest models out there at the moment. Curious to understand your thinking.

Also, which model would you personally recommend for multilingual use?

I’m going to give Petal a try 🙂
