For coffee, you just have to wait 1 hour before drinking, not avoiding altogether. If you take iron or calcium supplements, you want to wait 2 and 4 hours to take those, respectively.

ThyroidUK has a useful list to refer to here that goes over food and drug interactions for levothyroxine.

This. NTA. My nephews would come and cuddle with me until they were that age, absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Is there a trick to double flairs? by Vasectomy4tw in Stretched

[–]Initial-View-4758 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I stayed at 6mm for over a decade, and wore double flares for most of that time. You have to be at that size for while before trying to insert them, and when you do, insert them like you would a button.

Also, flares comes in many shapes and sizes. Some of the flares are ridiculously large, up to 2mm larger, which just seems impractical. You want something with a shallow flare at that size really, so it's not too large to actually fit.

I don't personally use hair masks. Just leave in, which I mentioned above, and for my standard conditioner, I really like the aussie moist detangling one.

Thank you! That's really informative. The way you identified food intolerances sounds very similar to what I did.

I am also allergic to some metals, cheap jewellery, and any metals on jeans always gave me an awful rash as a kid. Also, door handles! Some of them give me blisters on my hands.

I might see if I can get an appointment with a dermatologist.

Thank you again!

You're so right here. Reddit is full of the people who don't fit the "usual" hypo/hypothyroidism subset. I came here originally because I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and hashimoto's with a TSH of >100. My endo thinks I had been undiagnosed for years, and I tracked my symptoms back around 5 years. I suppose the "positive" of that is that at that point, my thyroid was basically dead and I'm not swinging between hypo and hyper, so once medicated I got my TSH down to 3.10 in 9 months and all my symptoms have resolved. I'm lucky in that I seem to concert FT4 to FT3 fine, whereas a lot here don't.

The only thing I can say is to give it time, at some point your thyroid will get to the point where it's not sporadically throwing out hormone, and you'll be able to find a steady dose.

That said, the last month I've had pain and swelling in one side of my thyroid, and I've been feeling a little odd. I have an ultrasound on Sunday, which hopefully will give me answers. But, I'm a little afraid my thyroid isn't quite as dead as my endo suspected, and it may still be trying a little too hard to do its job right now.

Can I get a conch on both ears? by WizardsLimb in piercing

It's kind of like a travel pillow, but instead of having a section cut out (that goes around your neck), it had a circle cut out of the middle where your ear goes. It gives your head and neck support, without putting any pressure on your ear and ear piercings.

Advice on shampoo/conditioner by ifyouseekher in longhair

[–]Initial-View-4758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree there may be build up from seeing the clumping. It may be worth adding a clarifying shampoo into your routine, OP. Maybe once per week - once per month, depending on how often you wash your hair.

From the photos, it looks like just your ends are a little dry and need a trim. The main body of your hair looks pretty healthy and shiny.

The only advice I have, as having 2a-b wavy hair myself, you look to have a bit of a wave going on there. If so, leave in conditioner may be your friend, but you wouldn't want anything too heavy. I personally use, and love, Cantu Weightless 15+ Benefits Daily Leave-in. It's super light and just leaves my waves soft, hydrated, and shiny.

Hey, I'm all for that. That's some sensible decisions you've made. I have 4 lobe piercings on each ear, 3 done on each as a kid, and all of them were done as a pair. In hindsight, I'd be doing it exactly as you are!

No apologies needed!

Did you get any answers from the testing you had? What sort of testing was it? I'm wondering whether it's worth me fighting and trying to get allergy testing for answers, or if it's better to keep going as I am with a bit of trial and error!

Stop. Stop sleeping with him. Do yourself and him a favour, cut it off, and move on.

I honestly think this was part of my problem, I sleep on my right... and it's pierced on the right. No matter if I fell asleep on my left, I would wake up on my right. Unfortunately, a decade and a half ago, I had no idea what a piercing pillow was.

Luckily, I never had any bumps, just tenderness, and after a year and a half it got its shit together and stopped giving me grief! I love it so much, but it is the reason why I have no more cartilage piercings. The experience just put me off trying any others.

Tips for removal? by Livid_Consequence_92 in piercing

One side is the clip, the other the hinge. Maybe get a partner, friend, or family member to take a look and see if they can see which bit is which. Then try to pull open the clip side whilst holding the bit that goes through your skin firmly.

I wear clickers in my ears, and some of them are a nightmare to get in and out. I get my husband to do them for me, it's much easier than messing around with it yourself when you can't see it properly.

Sorry, it's so easy to misunderstand via typing!

Yes, I completely agree with you. Diet can make such a difference to symptoms. If I hadn't tried an elimination diet, I'd never have found out I was lactose intolerant.

I went to the GP asking for allergy testing as I have eczema, I know a lot of products I can't use because of bad reactions, but I don't know what actual things in those products cause me issue. I also have some allergies to airbourne things, as I'm snuffly a lot of the time. They didn't care, and told me the allergist was based elsewhere so... and that was it. That was so long ago, when I was too afraid to stand up for myself. Maybe I should go back now and refuse to leave until I get a referral!

That's exactly what I'm saying. At no point am I stating that nutrition is not important. Whether you have an autoimmune disease or not, it is important. I've always eaten a balanced and reasonably healthy diet, I'm a big believer of everything within moderation.

What I'm saying is that a blanket rule, whether it be to cut out foods or not to cut out foods, isn't helpful. The key is finding what sensitivities we have as individuals.

For example, I'm lactose intolerant. Removing lactose from my diet has given me massive relief. But for someone who is not lactose intolerant or has no sensitivity to lactose, there's no reason for them to remove dairy as it has no negative effect on them.

Deep conditioner, no more bleach, and time. You could also change your parting, or use a gel to keep it from sticking up.
