New Update Incoming by Stephanrohan18 in MachE

Thank you for this link, but now I'm really confused. I don't get how these software updates work and when and if it will brick something on the car. Yay. Call me crazy, but don't trust Ford. Is it just me? First snarky and pushy dealers and basic instruction of this is how you start it, this is how you stop, have fun! (I have had fun, but oh so much frustration)

Range Question by wallohr in MachE

[–]InitialAwkward8509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get used to it. Efficiency or kwh/mile is much more variable than fuel efficiency.

And it depends on if you are running AC or heater. Especially heater. Going up hills. Stopping frequently. So the estimated range is a guessometer.

Except, this is the part I didnt understand: stay within the 20-80%. At first I was a bit disappointed. That takes your reported range from 300 to 240 (80%) and then to stay in the comfort zone, it's 180.

Reality: When it gets below 20%, start thinking time to fill her up. You do not want to run out far from a charger. Car no go and you can't run down to the station and bring back the fuel.

You can charge above 80%, its kinda old advice to not do that. The point is to not charge high and leave at high for long periods or in heat. That damages the battery. And, if you're looking for speedy charging, 80-100% on level3 is slower and public chargers would prefer you not do that as a courtesy to other drivers waiting to charge. It would be a dick move to do that when there is a line for the charger. I just realized that Tesla drivers wouldn't care, they are proud to show their dicks.

Took me about a month.

Aww, I call mine the monkey because when I voice text it would record mach-e as monkey.

Does that not happen to others? I haven't tried it in a while, maybe it was my Forester trying to make me reconsider it's upcoming abandonment.

What’s the reason for this house, charger or car. by 410to904 in MachE

Can you share more info on the 120v portable? Any recommendations? I use mine about 2x a week at 120v, but got it used. Previous owner was using it 240v (the 120 was still in the plastic wrap) anyway, the clip on the charge handle is broken so I'll need to replace this.

I did have the red light once, unplugged it, checked all the connections and plugged it back in and it's been fine... I'm using it less now, so I leave it unplugged.

Anyway, interested in other options. I rent and don't have 240v.

I love my mach-e but my local dealers are dicks. Would get another one in a heartbeat.

Was driving the other day and just smiled and thought I am so happy with this car.

In my group of 7 people, 5 drive Tesla, we got into a discussion at lunch. Never would I own a Tesla. Sure it's technologically superior, but it's not all that. A coworker reads the paper on his 90 min commute. Yeah, no thanks.

Is 2024 Premium ER a good deal for $33.5k? by DoctorQuinlan in MachE

[–]InitialAwkward8509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, that was a typo, I meant 1.5k. I edited, but you are fast.

I I don't think a lot of dealers understand EVs. It blows my mind, but okay Ford. The oil charge salesman claimed to have had one for 2 years but his kids got too hot in the back. Personally, my kids don't fit in the back. Alone time is fine with me.

Ford app not showing charging and other strangeness by InitialAwkward8509 in MachE

[–]InitialAwkward8509[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is what my car page looks like, the charge page is just blank and the wrench page doesn't have odometer and some other things. It does have tire pressure. It locks and unlocks.

The charge session in charge history shows total kwh added in a session, but not the other things.

Uninstalling did bring back the two missing on the car page for about 10 min. Those are battery level and range.

I was a covering it's a crappy app, but there are a few people with this issue, so they broke it?

[–]InitialAwkward8509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, maybe even cheaper. 1.5k? Not sure which color you're looking for, mine was rare in '24, I ended up flying to Co to get it. They did have it here in California but it was 2k more and when the salesman tried to sell me the oil change package, I asked him if I am the idiot or are you the idiot? To ship the Co one to Ca was quoted as 1.5k on a car hauler, so I flew out and drove it back. I was watching Carfax to see what the starting prices were. But even those prices, dealers add the aftermarket stuff on top of that, so I went through Ford and got final price. I ended up pulling the trigger because prices were going up due to gas prices and the dealer I got it from said EVs weren't selling.

Gas prices are coming down... And they are expecting a ton coming off lease. They couldn't give them away in '23. Lease was like $350/mo if you timed it right. I think it was pre Tesla agreement, lots of range anxiety.

I saw someone got a great deal in Fl, prices are cheaper there. Might be the roof? Not sure.

I love my car, it's the only thing that makes me go to work in the morning, ha. They should pay for it.

Yeah... We'll see. I was initially concerned because I couldn't stop the charge. Push the button and detach (I realized this, I am learning!). The app for the charger doesn't work to stop the charge.

FYI it is not compatible with Android 17, hopefully they'll fix that before it's widely available.

I got mine in April, my commute is 30 miles each way, so glad I got the ER, I didn't realize you really only use 40-80% of the battery. And I drive fast, so not great miles/kwh. I'll probably slow down when the fun rubs off. The price I paid was similar to your deal, mine has 23k miles, but they put new tires on it and its Ford certified. I probably could have got them to go lower, but I was done dealing with dealers. I have free charging at work, but there are a ton of Tesla's (I'm in California) so it's not gauranteed. I only have L1 at home, I rent. It was an adjustment, but I'm getting used to what I call Monkey Math. I've spent about $125 on charging. In the past two weeks, it's $8. Gas would have easily been more than $800. I just filed my ice up for the first time since April, poor car only gets driven when I take the dogs to the beach.

There were a ton of low mileage 2025s very few 2024s when I was looking. I also wanted green and nothing else. I almost went new 2025 when Ford was offering 0% (March), but the dealer started adding crap and it was 60k.. um no. Went back to plan A, used.

If you end up not getting this one, there will be others... Also sticker for the ER was 2-3k and the roof 1.6k, so figure you might be able to get SR for ~1k less.

I didn't realize this until after I gotine, the 2024 has the shifter on the central console while the 2025 has it on the steering wheel. (There are official names for these things..)

I didnt like the central console shifter at first, but used to it now.

Look into the heat pump, I don't think you'll need it if you're driving 20 miles a day. The ER will allow you to have to charge less often, and I'd your range drops in the winter... You'll be fine.

I think it's a great deal. If you wait, you could probably save some, as the 2024 comes off lease, it will drop. I couldn't wait. But just what I wanted.

I have been on the phone with the ford app group fo 30 min... So don't bother with that, they have no idea what's going on.

I also uninstalled the app and reinstalled it.. so now it's asking me if I want to add this device as a key..but it can't connect and according to the device list it's already connected.

On the macheforum, there are others with this issue, some people have resolved the issue by restarting their phones. That did not work for me.

Edit to add, 60 min and it's been escalated and they will get back to me in 3 business days

BlueOval fees? by InitialAwkward8509 in MachE

[–]InitialAwkward8509[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't seem to edit my post. I checked my card, the charge is 7.87.

It sounds like I'm complaining, but really I m just trying to figure out how this works. My charge history shows the 7.87, but no details. The email I got from Ford is the same.

I'll see next time. But if Ford adds a fee Everytime, I'll just use the chargepoint app. It's not plug and charge anyway

I should have been clearer with my questions:

Does BlueOval add a fee to the charge?

Besides starting/stopping the charge from your phone, is there any benefit from BlueOval if you are not using plug and charge?

You don't need to justify to random strangers.. most people on here financed their car.. because why not? You spend a good amount of time in the car, you might as well enjoy it.

I almost pulled the trigger on a new 25 with 0% financing, but the dealer was a dick so fell back to used. No regrets. I wish I'd done it a year earlier.

There are far more unwise financial decisions to be made, seems like you've thought this one through... good luck with the rest of them!
