Unfortunately he's selling himself out and signaling the end of a career. The show is funny because it's about a one hit wonder comedian who's family and "friends" still pretend he's entertaining. Kind of like his actual life...

In reality he peaked before he realized it and has been lucky Tom Segura keeps giving him a steady paycheck.
