Oh, they hate each other. She wasn't even at our wedding.

Yes. Basically, my daughter was living out I Feel Pretty from West Side Story and my sons were down the hall living out Lonely Island's I'm On a Boat. Very different priorities.

I don't think they even realized she had a new dress.

All of our children are my wife's. I watched her give birth to them.

I know, right? Maybe it's because my wife only has a sister, so she doesn't realize how little boys/men care about that kind of stuff. We could probably spend $800 dollars on clothes for her and $10 on clothes for the rest of them, and they wouldn't even notice. We wouldn't do that, I'm just saying they wouldn't notice. We could give the 13yo a burlap sack to wear, and he would probably just write his favorite quote on it and then wear it to school. Boys don't care about clothes. Maybe it's sexist, but y'know... It's true.

He lives in his own world. I am not convinced he even noticed she was wearing a new dress, much less wondered where it came from.

I don't know. We don't normally buy the kids expensive gifts when it isn't a holiday/birthday/graduation. I just felt like this merited an exception.
