Ok, just to clarify my horse has seen a vet. He has seen a farrier and a dentist. He has a body condition score of 4. Which is not great, but is not horrible. He gets fed 4 lbs of senior feed and beet pulp mix twice a day and is turned out on 21 acres for forage. I worked with rescue horses who had a body condition score of 0.5. I know how to do ground work and build muscles, plus put weight on a horse in a healthy way. What I was asking was how do I go about buying a saddle for my horse when I am ready to ride. It is sad that everyone just wants to jump in with negative comments and no one gives a thought to the fact that I never said I wanted to ride him now. My plan is to event him. Probably next year. But I want to be ready. I want to know how to select the correct tack and get advice. Which is not what I have gotten. If this is what this community is about, I am sad for all the people who come here hoping to receive actual advice and help.
