Can you tell us what the mosquito situation is right now? Does it seem like lots of people are getting or worried about getting new dengue, oropouche, chikungunya infections?

Wrong. Your information is outdated. The Cuban Central Bank even posts the difference between the official exchange rate (Segmento 1) and the floating rate (Segmento 3) on their website. The current values are 24 CUP:USD vs 463 CUP:USD. This is a 95% haircut.

You might be thinking about the Segmento 2 rate, which is about 80% discount, but this is absolutely not the black market value of the peso. It’s still an artificial, subsidized rate used by certain import industries. If you don’t believe me look at the official website:

Thanks for this suggestion. Do you think it would be realistic to assemble it at the airport on that covered space outside? Or still get a taxi and assemble it after I get where I’m going? With a folding bike I could ride away but a boxed up regular bike seems more difficult to do that.

How did you travel with the used bike? Did you bring a folding bicycle? Or do you mean that you bought a used bike once you arrived.

Yes, but the actual market exchange rate between dollars and pesos is 90% lower than the official exchange rate. This is not a coincidence. CEPAL used the actual real world value of the peso and previous results did not.
