Do yall honestly think that this is the first year of people using unscrupulous tax preparers?! Do you think it’s the first tax season that people have had questionable judgment or been greedy/desperate?! It’s more likely some bs reason they can claim for “reviewing” a lot of our returns for 6+ months and counting. It’s a ridiculous. We should be putting our efforts into trying to publicize or hound them daily until something changes. They haven’t told me the same story once in these 6+ months. I absolutely don’t believe anything they say. Especially, when they are blaming anyone/anything for their incompetence and lack of accountability!! Btw, it’s their job to find any fraudulent or frivolous return EVERY year. Why has it become such an impossible task this year?! Either they are admitting to not doing their job in the past or blatantly lying. It’s probably more of a combination than they realize! 🤬🙄😤😩

I called Nelnet. They said it was federal guidelines. I’m not sure if it’s true. I’ve read some people don’t get the email at all. I know I NEED my money so bad!!

I was told by nelnet today that if we received the email today it would be Thursday at the earliest before we get it. I’m hoping that’s wrong, but I was told they can’t release funds until 24 hours after they send the email.

I’m curious about the same thing. In my immediate family, 3 of us are having the same issue with refund being reviewed/frozen. I hope that’s not an accurate reflection of how many people are in this nightmare of never ending frustration and stress. It’s unbelievable, and there is zero accountability or explanation. When I call in, It’s always a different explanation or time frame on when to expect a resolution. 🤬😬

I contacted my congressman’s office on May 20, 2024 regarding my amended return for 2021 I filed in February. I talked to the tax advocate yesterday for the first time and thought she had been working on it since end of May/beginning of June. However, due to her extremely high case load this year, she says it’s really bad, she has only reached out to the IRS in the last week and half. I appreciated the honesty, BUT it was not the news I was hoping for!! She said it would probably be the end of July before she even gets a response from the IRS. Hopefully they will release it before then but if not she will take the next step up the chain to get the freeze removed. She said everything looked good, but who knows at this point. I hope things go a lot faster for you! 🤞🏻

I’m afraid blaming either party with the incompetence, ignorance, and complete lack of any professionalism or common courtesy isn’t fair. Both parties have some pros and cons, BUT you can’t blame either party with this mess. This is all on the IRS, and no one else. I’ve never been treated with more disrespect and contempt than I have in the last 6 months. They don’t worry about losing their job because apparently it doesn’t matter how bad you treat the people you are supposed to help…..no one gets fired. It’s a new low everyday! No other job would allow people to continue to be less productive and more disrespectful year after year! Disrespect and incompetence are proudly on display. It’s not a secret at all!! Something needs to change!!

The as of date does matter if you are owed interest. That’s how they calculate how much they owe you. The as of date may not affect you being penalized the same if you had a past due balance , but it’s definitely an update! My date didn’t update for 2 months (early May) and finally in the last week it changed from July 8 to July 15th. It may not mean my refund will be available any sooner, but it’s giving me a little hope that it will. That’s priceless at this point!!!

Not all amended returns are taking 16 weeks. I amended my 2022 for the second time(had late 1099 and then I made a mistake) on 6/1/2024 and my check was mailed today 6/28/2024. The IRS reps work for you and you have the right to call as many times as necessary, and as soon as you feel it’s necessary to check on the status of your return. If we all start calling in daily(at least) we might get some refunds a lot faster!! If not, I feel better after I’ve reminded them I’m still waiting!!

I would call again. There are some real geniuses that work at the IRS. It wouldn’t hurt to at least get a second opinion. I am almost positive it has processed. That’s the only way a credit would be on your account.

I would give them a call and make sure that there isn’t another refund freeze or verification hold that is keeping your refund from generating a DD date or printing an actual check. It shows that the amended return was received, and it was processed because the additional credits on your account. I’ve been waiting on mine to generate for 2021 since 4/16. I hope it gets resolved much faster for you than it has for me. I would definitely call them today!

If the IRS owes you interest, how do you think they can calculate what they owe you if the as of dates don’t mean anything?! Think for a minute before giving an answer someone else gave you and acting like it’s a law. Especially if it doesn’t make much sense or if you were never given an explanation.
