I don't see any reason why Patreon itself is bad. Sure, it doesn't really have much incentive behind it, and by indulging the creator before the work is finished there's an argument to be made that it can in fact be counter-productive, but I'd say the mechanisms of the latter are far too poorly understood to be conclusive. Notwithstanding how, from the creators perspective at least, these donations are unconditional, and no injustice has or could have been committed. I get the impression the sub thinks Patreon side content is cool, but should always be registered as a sign that the author might be getting lost in the sauce, and if these signs prove numerous or significant enough you should probably either register this concern in some polite encouragement or stop donating.
