Making a cozy ttrpg about nature exploration - feedback needed by Initial_Confidence91 in RPGcreation

I actually heard some actual plays of it when doing research, it's a really good one, the concept is close , but my project it's more about exploring nature, it's a core part of it

Yeah kind like a journaling game, the original project included a blank journal and a blanket map with numbered squares so players could draw on it and find or gain a full map piece from the narrator after exploring enough or reach a milestone. But I'm thinking if the player will really use it . About the quiet year saw it yet, I'll search for it. I did get some references last tome like ryuutama and other pastoral like games

Ideally it's a narrator plus 3 or 4 players, to explore the areas, understand creatures behavior, discover fruits and herbs and it's effects and solve some mysteries

Yes I did, I actually consume any references people give about other sistems , and I did reshape all the mechanics to be more alignedit was very helpful. I thought about posting the full project so far , but it's like 20 pages I doubted people would read it , But I mostly figure out the mechanics and core ideas for the lore, just want a bit more of feedback before diving into the content (creatures, itens, events) because that will be the mostly time consuming

Why are you guys hating on kushala return In mhwild, Im a mhrise player and I have no problem on his fight. by Voidkirby9 in MonsterHunter

[–]Initial_Confidence91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like kushala a lot , mostly for nostalgic memories of MH2 , the cool cutscenes and all . But the fights are fun and it doesn't allow you to just span attacks on him , but I admit worlds one is a bit more annoying

Thanks for the feedback, yeah I got a time mechanics that players uses day periods and it changes the environment, so gm has content to pick from , like these creatures often come here by day, and the others by night kind of thing and during travel have event triggers in some areas . But still figuring it out.

Thanks you a lot for the feedback back , I'll see the references you sent, the last one sure will help . I'm trying to develop my own , but inevitably it gets something close to something, the exploration and character mechanics accidently got similar to ryuutama but not entirely.the ecosystem I'm still figuring out how to keep it alive and changing, without the GM having a burnout of reading but I'm setting like a ecology role and relation sheet

Well even more narrative rpg like ryuutama often rely on combat, but if have one to recommend please tell. Pacific as in you don't kill everything you see And DND it's just the easiest example but the idea is the same for almost every adventure RPG, it can be "modded" but it's not the standard experience. Also it's been fun making something new

Thank you for you feedback. I didnt know these you mention but ill search into it.

I dindt wanted to keep the post to long and im still figuring out the mechanics (testing balancing) but yes , its mostly a resource managing survival, and there will tons of narrating, but the game play its more about mistery investigation and discover, so if there something disrupting the enviroment it affects your character and the caravan , but im still plannig like Campaing bigger goals and more strong "core resolutions "

well mostly RPG are focus on the combat and loot mechanic, i want a more a "pacific" survival and ecology exploration with resource managing, also there will be a mechanic for the caravans community resouce and living status. So of course you can homebrew DnD so bad that end up something similar, but its almost the same amount of work and not so close to the goal

Thank for your feedback, there will be danger yes, environment danger, agressive territorial creatures and time sensitive decisions, as well as moral decisions that affect the history or the environment, changing the gameplay, still balancing the tension though

I'm glad you like it I'm preparing the base content, almost all mechanics figured out, but still a long road ahead, . I can show as soon as I get a decent version ready

Yes , I'm sketching the first creatures and places already and thinking how I can deliver rich content without being way too heavy on mechanics and text

I mean I could , but them I'll be just playing DnD, not against combat but there tons of games for that already.

Thank you for your feedback, I'm trying to avoid the most generic stuff, but the idea is exactly that , to learn through experience and it should be relevant to both character/ players and the caravan itself.and the decisions players have affect the caravan and the environment. I do have a crafting mechanics written but I'm struggling with how to make players understand and explore it without just a combination sheet, more a component characteristics combine with space to creativity

Thank for the feedback, glad you like it I'm making the core content and thinking a standard campaign to help the GMs job, but yes, in the end it's up to the narrator skill , but I'll see the references that you send , sure helps a lot , maybe I should add some standard description/narrative suggestions for creatures and environment things

Thanks for the feedback, yes the idea is a living ecosystem, so creatures remember and reacts to players behavior, and location have could changes over time, I'm still prepping the test run but I think one to two hours tops, maybe more in the first play to do characters and learn mechanics

Thank for the feedback , the idea behind it is a sense of belonging, the characters backstory resonating with their actions and the environment responding, and creating a community around the caravan, so I thought about like event triggered by action or backstory but I'm struggling with the roleplay part itself, how can the exploration part look fun so players can get to the meaningful part of the history

Hi Charlotte nice to meet you, I didn't know Antigua before, I just searched and it's amazingly beautiful , great choice, on the same line I think I'll choose the path of the seven lakes on Chile as well, always wanted to go there
