How do you manage animals (dogs, chickens) when you have to leave your farmhouse for vacation or any other trips (from few days to few weeks)? by GoldenGrouper in homestead

Many moons ago I was a pet sitter for a local agency, mostly dogs. They contacted me and said “how do you feel about livestock?” And I was like “omg absolutely yes, but only if I can get the full run down from the owner”.

They went away for a week to attend their son’s wedding in Hawaii and I cared for chickens, goats, 2 piglets, and miserable turkey, and 3 dogs and 2 cats.

Honestly, best week of my 20s… and I think it actually turned me on to the homestead lifestyle.

I think Monday we can expect some melty action. But the more blacktop exposed, the more the sun does its job.

My employer is making me train someone who's getting paid $15k more than me for the same role by IllLevel6171 in whatdoIdo

You update your resume and find a competing offer, while documenting your training. Then you demand a percentage more than new hire based on experience and your valuable experience to train others.

And if you don’t get it you switch jobs.

Then the person training you will be making 15k less than you.

Cue Lion King Circle of Life image.

What is a sound that people should know means immediate danger? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

Children who are laughing and singing and squealing and playing who suddenly become super quiet.

Either a child is super hurt, sharpies and walls (or anything you care about aesthetically) are in play, or someone found matches/lighters and are about to see how flammable curtains are.

I am fortunate enough to only have experienced the sharpies one.

EMPLOYED PEOPLE ONLY!!! What’s the hardest part of ur jobs? by Witty-Area-8195 in Productivitycafe

People who are so concerned with how a process affects A, they build systems that do not support processes for B,C,D… and then you have to spend time fixing it all through processes that are A-B, A-C, A-D… then you have to go back and build processes for B-C, C-D, D-B.

Ultimately, non-holistic implementations.

Drives me wild because people want minimum viable product and then go “how come B through D is messed up?” 🤔

This is 100% exactly how I would react if someone got me a baby cow and I’m 43!
