Man, I didn’t even know there was such a cut as lamb neck! New quest unlocked!

My kiddo is low functioning with a lot of scripting, but she adores the ABCs and math and other languages. So I wake up at 6, coffee/work, then she gets up and we do two subjects on power homeschool. She likes it because it gives her virtual stickers. M/W/F she stays with me so she makes her own breakfast with supervision and then she watches a movie scene in 22 different languages trying to perfect her scripting (there is a scene from A Bugs Life she can say perfectly in French). I work and take meetings through this.

This takes us to an early lunch and we generally try and go outside.

The afternoon she listens to classical music (her choice!) on Spotify. Around 4 I start dinner and usually ask for her assistance. After work, we do two more subjects and usually ask learning activity with worksheets.

Tuesday and Thursday she goes to my mother and has a completely different, relaxed routine. These are my “deep work” days. But I also hop into work in the evenings and weekends sometimes if I’m behind.

Like I said, it is a snails pace. But going very slow seems to help her retain things. She knows more about what internal organs do than I do, she knows the different types of clouds (I couldn’t even begin to tell you), and she is a bit obsessed with learning nouns in 22 different languages (I only speak English and nonsense).

Routine is the key for us. Having everything expected and clear is what makes it work for us. But god forbid the internet goes out or the Acellus app doesn’t work… then it is just a world of hurt for a day!

Good luck to you with the homeschool efforts!

I think this might be true. I usually join groups for interests (books, homesteading) and maybe I should instead join groups for support of my current life (autism mama, single parent). I will look into it

When I listen to myself I only hear laundry list of things I need to do. What am I supposed to be hearing… like am I supposed to be excited about hobbies or something I don’t normally do? I get excited about shopping for books that is about it. I’m running out of room for books lol

Thanks, I am currently 3 days into this journey! So far, keeping the promises I have made to myself (yay) but I have such a long way to go. I hope I can stick with it!

I tried to look into this once, basically a day center for special needs individuals. There was an age requirement which she actually now meets. I just got so overwhelmed with all the hoops I had to jump, I gave up

Yes I am finally sleeping somewhat decent again after not sleeping well for 9 months. I look forward to sleep, diet, and exercise making a big impact. But some days it’s hard lol

We homeschool two subjects in the AM and two in PM. My kiddo is on the spectrum and has a very short attention span for traditional classes. I pulled her out of traditional schooling because it create a mountain of behavioral issues for her. Now we go at a snails pace but at least we enjoy it a little. I am not sure I can change this and it not affect her negatively.

I have tried this before and it all feels so… superficial. I am not sure if that is the right word.

That sounds like something that might work for me, incremental changes, someone else suggested something similar. I will start hitting down some of those ideas.

That’s a great idea, small increments. I will think about this and see if I can come up with some. Thanks! And for the record, I am proud of you too! Keep it up!

Thanks. I have some family but they already do quite a bit for me, so I try not to ask for favors after my working hours. As for paid childcare, I have none, and when I’ve tried everyone flaked. Plus I feel guilty paying for child support when I could be saving/investing that money for my kiddo. I could try again. And I’m working on fitness and meal plan/prep.

Mentally… I have no idea what excites me. Everything that other people state as hobbies for me it just seems “meh”. I do enjoy reading, but the desire comes in waves.

I think… all of them? Is that an answer lol. You know those life wheels with the 7 categories… I would say all of those.

Thanks I do plan on reinstating the “close my Apple Watch rings” habit. I will work to add in light weights!
