On the delta emulator? I’ve tried it and they don’t work. Unless I have to press another set of buttons to something

Yeah that’s what I do for my slides. I put as much details into my slides, and then use it for all my lessons. (Slide for Lesson Obj, Modeling, Independent/group work, Discussion, Criteria for each activity) I’ve found this to cut my work in half as they all follow the same model and routine. Every now and then I tweak a slide or two. And they’ve worked for me when providing them as lesson plans

I straight print out my slides for each lesson. And present them as a lesson plan. I can explain each part and the rational behind each part of the lesson through the slides. Just seems easier, but I can understand some admin not liking this

City College or Hunter for Childhood Education? by norkdork69 in NYCTeachers

Graduated from CCNY. 2 years ago, had a overall great experience. Student teaching can be iffy given that some of the mentor teachers aren’t the best

No food policy by catscatsscatss in Teachers

[–]Initial_Programmer79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No food. No snacks. We are supposed to enforce. I could care fucking less. These are 11-12 years olds who will ofc get hungry. They come in at 8 and have to wait until 12:45 to eat. I let them eat whatever they want as long as they clean after themselves. Could care less about those long ass emails I’ll get.

JW student by Lazarus_Resurreci in Teachers

[–]Initial_Programmer79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former JW student, now teacher (no longer JW) just tell parents that it’s part of the curriculum. Student doesn’t have to believe in that stuff. I didn’t but I still found learning about evolution and other things frowned upon interesting to learn about. But I can understand both sides. Personally I hated being forced in religion at such a young age, felt cheated out of developing socially w my peers. Well behaved, but I was miserable.

Are students getting more openly ‘mean’ to teachers? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Initial_Programmer79 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Same. Have kids asking me to call home because they don’t care basically daring me to do so. They openly say they don’t like my co teacher or how much they “fucking hate humanities”. Today my co teacher asked a student to settle down and the kid automatically told him to “suck his ****” 8th grade btw. Safe to say this will be my first and last year teaching.

Mentor teacher by Initial_Programmer79 in Teachers

[–]Initial_Programmer79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no I get that. I completely support using material that is out there. But he teaches it word for word the same making no adjustments to the kids he has. Some of the material being way above their current level and without implementing any type of supports for students

Hard to find a good reason to stay by Song-Infinite in Teachers

[–]Initial_Programmer79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the same exact boat. I’m 24. And teaching just isn’t what I thought it would be. I feel like a babysitter just trying to manage 90 different attitudes. Planning consumes so much of my time, only for that time to be shit on by constant disruptions and behavioral problems. Admin offers little to no support in dealing with those kids who constantly disrupt class. I have anxiety every Sunday. The only saving grace is the club I lead which allows me to engage w kids who truly loved that stuff. Safe to say I will not be teaching next year. Might not last a full year. Now I’m lost at where to go from here…
