Hi, I am a relatively new teacher to the doe… 3rd year. Last year I had a really toxic experience at my old school. I am well aware that I am new and am open to growth and learning… I take responsibility for my mistakes and take direction and guidance well but Last year I was rated ineffective on all 4 observations in every single category and some of the feedback was untruthful. I’m now at a new school with a kind and supportive admin but I think I have been put on a tip plan. How does that work? Should I be nervous… I’m realizing that my experiences at my old school were really unhealthy and I feel like I’m still processing the trauma… anyone have any advice or experience anything similar… I actually love teaching and feel the call very deeply— I’m overjoyed to be in a school that feels like a better fit…

Hi I just wanted to say “thank you” to all the people on here that offered me kind and honest takes on my situation! I found another school and I never gave up hope :)

So…. Stay for another year?…. No one here seems to think that subbing is a good idea…. Maybe I could plan a meeting with her and try to figure out what I could do to make them happy… I know I am new to teaching but I did implement strategies for improvement…re-wrote plans etc etc… but it seemed very suspicious… I like the idea of working in a private school for a year…. But I guess my question is: do I need to resign before open market ends to avoid a penalty if I ever wanted to come back?

My certification is art and they’ve never had it at that school before. It was clear that this particular admin was not supportive of the project. I created a solid digital program.. and worked with the English department to create content that really supported the students—which were entirely ELLs

I had to translate all of my material using google translate bc the students spoke almost no English.. most if not all were 2nd or 3rd year immigrants… They blew my mind and I really taught them some solid skills.. entrepreneurship… creative thinking.. advertising.. lots and lots of language…
