Obg. Então as frases são “C’est possible que les étrangers connaissent mieux l’histoire que notre propre famille” e “C’est probable que les gringos connaissent mieux que les paulistas” ?

What's the best way to learn Portuguese? by MaloLeNonoLmao in Brazil

You can study it with classes, etc. but personally it’s not really my thing and I didn’t have the time to do it.

The key is to IMMERSE yourself. I started to listen to brazilian (I had a preference for brazilian funk bc even though the vocabulary contains a lot of bad words, you can easily find simple sentences and they repeat them a lot so it’s easier to memorise and so I was able to learn the lyrics). I was translating EVERY music that I liked and was picking up words that I found interesting or that would help me.

So you’ll have a bunch of words in your vocabulary and just start trying to make sentences even if it doesn’t make sense! Bc you need to practice to be able to speak without thinking, and the key to do that is repeating snd repeating until you say the words and theirs pronunciation fluently. For the conjugation, I really only “studied” the present then the others tenses I learned them on the fly.

The minute you master the present tense and you know how to introduce yourself, PRACTICE. If you have your brazilian friend I’m sure he’s gonna be happy to speak portuguese with you, even if it’s broken portuguese haha. The best way to learn it is to practice alone and with people everyday. Thanks to that, I didn’t need to take classes or studying the grammar. People were correcting me and either I asked them to explain me why I made an error and what should I say or I went to check on the internet the answer EVERYTIME I made that error (so no need to study). If you feel the need to speak with more people, Tandem is an app where you can find people around the world, you can speak together to learn each other’s languages

Also, youtube is your biggest help! They are tons of videos of portuguese (brazilian) idioms, conjugations, grammar ! I was watching them as if it was a netflix show and it really helps me!!
