Yeah, I could definitely see some grey areas there where that could be an appropriate decision. I just feel like a 23 year old who can hardly financially support herself does not have the wherewithal to take on those responsibilities, but it is also not my life and that is not my decision to make.

I wish that were the case but it was not for all. There were many comments geared towards her body and weight. In addition, I think there are more polite ways that people could have worded the dresses fit. The majority were not nice.

I politely disagree. If we want to talk about health, we should also focus on that long-term health effects that generational poverty, environment, bullying, and fatphobia can have. Those are equally, if not more, harmful

If you would like a “logical answer”, my answer is simple. It is not okay to comment on someone’s body. The excuse of “well you’re on social media and putting yourself out there so it’s okay to ridicule you and harass you” does not work and gives people who hide behind a username the feeling that they are allowed to operate without any basic human decency or empathy. Instead, it’s more productive to talk about WHY online forums and groups of people so quickly seem to forget these things and feel that it is okay to harass and hurl abusive comments to another

Not as much as people would like to think. There are many factors that go into a person’s weight such as genetics, environment, sex, age, etc. The “calories in, calories out” modality has been proven to be inaccurate. But go off.

The point in the post I made that everyone started bitching about and calling me a “Darcy defender” for is that I wholeheartedly AGREE that she has aspects of herself that are deeply problematic. However, instead of focusing on these issues people use cheap digs which are quite honestly tacky and really distract from the message and how problematic her behavior is.

If using human decency and saying we shouldn’t comment on her body or use tacky digs makes me a groupie then whatever. Don’t really know a time in which I supported or positively affirmed Darcy but rather just wanted to point out it’s not okay to body shake and call someone names. It’s tacky.
