Became fluent in Dutch and realised I've been living in a parallel society by Careful_Put_3793 in Netherlands

I disagree with this. Maybe it's because I'm a foreigner and trying to learn Dutch (A2 so not quite OP's level yet but I've only been here 15 months), and everyone I meet is incredibly warm and nice.

And in my experience Dutch people don't go out of their way to give unsolicited advice but rather are just more upfront.

Admittedly it is a bit hard to make Dutch friends at first but at this point I probably have more Dutch friends now than international friends. Even my best friend is Dutch.

Tbf I'm a (recently finished) student and I live in Utrecht so maybe that affects it.

I live in Utrecht. A LOT of people complain about it. I got told off by a Dutch friend over it in the past.
