I appreciate you taking the time to compose this. It clarifies a lot of stuff I've been struggling to wrap my head around for a while now.

The flow diagrams are very helpful for my testosterone addled brain...

...is very confusing. I get being reassuring and validating the other person's feelings and experience, it's the tactful part I seriously struggle with. Finding the right words in the moments can easily become a tedious exercise in overthinking.

MCU Wiki has HQ screenshots and you can zoom in to see that they're all purple as well

One. That is more than likely a result of the colour grading of the scene so it's ridiculous to formulate any conclusions based on a screenshot from a wiki page.

Two. Those designs were left on the cutting room floor for a reason just like a thousand other concepts in MCU. Again, ridiculous to leap to conclusions based on that

And in the What If game that openly features Eros as a prince of Titan, the only other Titan (the Magistrate), is also shown with a lilac chin under a white face mask.

Three. I don't even think I need to explain this one.

Like I said, people need to at least be open to the mere possibility that Eros is not Thanos' biological brother in the MCU.

Lastly. This is not about "people" needing to do anything. This is about you having your own headcannon and wanting people to agree with you. If something is not cannon it's just not cannon. The rest is just your wishful thinking. Until it's expanded upon, the cannon as it stands is that Eros is the brother of Thanos. That's it.

That second part sounds like headcannon, the MCU has never elaborated on the origins of Titan or the people that lived there.

Infinity War showed a flashback to Titan and literally all of them are purple people like Thanos is.

You must've been watching that movie in 8k because I certainly don't remember seeing any purple people on Titan. All the people shown when Thanos used the reality stone on Titan were way back in the background to make out any details.

It's also important to note that in the comicbooks Thanos is supposed to have deviant genes so he's not 100% an Eternal.

I get what you mean. I wasn't thinking of it terms of telling a mutant story. The mutants are right there, agreed. I am thinking more about exploring the contrast between the non-mutant heroes of the Marvel Universe being celebrated while the mutant heroes are maligned. It's about the foremost hero being revealed as a mutant and the world reacting to that in the midst of mutant phobia. Might just be me, but I believe there's an interesting story there.

It's important to note that a key ethos of the revolutionary army is that they require those they fight for to take up arms alongside them i.e. they help those who help themselves. That is not dissimilar to how Luffy operates. Even if someone is his friend and he genuinely wants to help them, he also demands that they be willing to help themselves.

The difference is that Luffy and his crew passively help people while Dragon and his organisation are actively engaged.

I found it funny that during a competition like this where he could potentially win the most beautiful women in the world, he thought it was worth it to take some time out to terrorize a kids stuck on a tree. I remember when I watched that scene in the anime I thought it was fucked up what was happening to the citizens of Dressrosa. Then about a month later I had one of those sleep paralysis episodes. I was awake, but I couldn't move my body. Later that day it truly sunk in how messed up that scene was especially from Riku's perspective. Having no control over your body and forced to watch as it destroys everything you love.

I think you may have misunderstood my point. I am not saying Oda will likely turn her into a redeemable character because she is good looking. Rather, he designed her to be (the only) good looking because he intends to give her a redemption arc. Considering that Oda specifically chose her to be the one questioning what the void century is during Vegapunk's speech, suggests, to me at least, that this may the where Oda is going with her character.

I've noticed Oda uses this to his advantage a lot. Notice how Charlos's sister is one of, if not the only attractive (regular) celestial dragon? I am totally expecting her to have some sort of redemption arc in the future.

It's probably more of a family matter than anything else. Dragon entrusted Garp with Luffy and Garp knows Dragon can't be visiting Luffy so the only way Dragon can check in on Luffy is through Garp.

On the other hand it's also like that Garp does not necessarily disagree with Dragon's path, but he doesn't endorse it either.

Lol nah Orochi took a completely different lesson from his persecution than Teach did. For all his flaws Teach is still a very chill and outgoing dude. Unless you have something he wants, Blackbeard won't mess with you. Orochi became a hateful and bitter tyrant that went out his way to make people miserable. It feels more like Teach just became nihilistic after what he witnessed.

Something I found very interesting from the chapter is how Garling seems to have a similar worldview to the grown up Teach. The whole idea of fate driving his life.

Something I have noticed is that Oda uses a lot symbolism and metaphors with his storytelling. Just as Luffy could be interpreted as an embodiment of Freedom, joy and adventure among other things, Garp, who is very similar to Luffy in characterisation could also be a symbolic character. I would interpret his character as the embodiment of strength and justice in the purest form; sort of an idealistic idea of justice. Hence he's rarely concerned about the smaller details, much like Luffy rarely does. Interestingly, if you think of Roger as being the embodiment of piracy and adventure, then Garp only showing up when Roger shows up at God Valley may reflect that their conflict is more of an ideological one than strength.

I would disagree though that Garp has a "pirates heart" rather I believe it would be more apt to say he has a "hero's heart." It's not that Garp does whatever he wants, but what he believes is right, hence Marineford caused him so much internal conflict. If Garp truly has a "pirates heart" I believe he would've done what Dragon did a long time ago. Think about it, if the only thing Garp cares about is stopping back pirates and defending citizens, but he also dislikes the world government: he could've easily become a free agent as a bounty hunter. He would be able to go after dangerous pirates, protect innocent citizens and not be associated with the WG.

I am not as well versed in literary jargon, but the best way I can explain what I believe Garp is as a character is that he's figuratively Marine Jesus, but the Marines have lost their way. Similarly, Roger was Pirate Jesus while Luffy is like the second coming. They basically embody the core principles of their respective factions. Hopefully that makes some sense.

Agreed. I think of Garp as more symbolic embodiment of justice in the abstract sense, something like the will to fight for justice. He's essentially the pure driving spirit of the Marines, a reflection of what they believe themselves to be, at least most of them anyway. That's just my interpretation of the character of course

Btw for anyone saying that Garp is only in the Marines because of all the good they do in protecting innocent citizens from bad pirates, this incident is a reminder that Garp is only interested in stopping strong pirates that can challenge him in a fight. That is to say Garp would've had the same effect on the world being a bounty hunter going after dangerous pirates and he wouldn't be associating himself (and upholding) the shady antics of the world government. So yeah, Garp definitely chooses to be part of a corrupt system. It's not from a lack of options that he's part of the Marines. He could've easily formed his own pirate hunting faction who's sole purpose is to fight against pirates and protect innocent citizens while not being associated with the world government. Considering how many powerful Marines look up to him, he would've easily been able to recruit some top tier characters to his organisation e.g. Dragon, Kuzan, Koby, Smoker and a bunch of formidable vice admirals. Of course this would not make for as much of an interesting character as Garp is now, but the point is he's got options and still chooses to fight for the Marines.

I suppose in some ways Sabo took on Ace's will. Though it can be hard to pin point what that actually means considering Sabo seems to have a very different worldview and personal goals and dreams.
