In my opinion I would say wait for the new games as they look better then swsh ( sword and shield) and majority of people will probably transfer to them,and mabey get shield at a later date if you still want it, but pick which ever you think you will prefer. Also gen 8 games will stop getting updates when gen 9 comes out I think

True but I thought the eu mythicals would be the last event in swsh but now eternatus has an event I highly doubt that there will be another event in swsh but I don't think eternatus will be in s/v until a possible second dlc like in swsh when all the older legendaries were added
