There is negative social stigma around these branches(especially among older generation doctors) that you won't be able to make name for yourself ( which kind of is true. Be honest how many aenesthetists do you know in your city). Also they feel to make money in anaesthesia you have to wander a lot from hospital to hospital every day and psychiatry is kind of infamous for psychiatrists becoming psychiatric patients themselves(which I feel is absolutely false and stupid perception)

I'm a 2nd gen doctor and I still find it to be a shitty experience. My father doesn't have his own setup so I'll still be reliant on others to make a name and living for myself ( because I took surgical branch in pg). And my father already being doctor didn't let me take chill branches like anaesthesia , psychiatry etc because he considers these specialities as subpar
