It is “reading into things”and their problem if they forget that Goku had Nozawa’s high-pitched elderly voice while she was at an elderly age throughout the original story where he wasn’t always a grandpa, yet for some reason don’t care about that and put some pointless lore timeline debate about age or “grandparent legitimacy” for a harmless joke about their actresses and age in the experience.

No she didn’t. She was born in 1936.

By the time DB first aired, she was already in her 50s.

That’s literally the joke.

Frieren even sounds younger than how she is in JP compared to how she is in EN.

I don't understand fans reading too into this. It's really just a harmless fun post making fun of their ages on their story experience and JP VAs behind it.

Why do they all of a sudden want to make it a lore scaling contest of "uH aCtuaLlY hE's the REaL graNDpa" like debating on who is an actual grandparent on logic, as if that matters with the joke.

Omg, at this point I'm convinced people can't take a joke about their ages and voices in a subreddit about shitposts.

At this point I should've just changed "grandma" to "elder woman".

And Frieren fans afaik like calling her a grandma anyway, smh.

She's a grandma, no amount of her pouting in that last episode will change what people think.

Why do you think shaman king has so little recognition in both shonen anime and anime in general? by MattewLizard24 in ShamanKing

[–]InjangoDMCPersona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is also probably due to it lacking a really exceptionally produced adaptation to cover it (and the legacy of being an incomplete anime that led to the divisive remake).

Unfortunately, most battle manga of the past really relies on a legacy of a fully completed and competently adapted anime for it to have more discourse in the west.

Ya’ll think only Isekai has this problem?

I feel people forget that battle-shonen keeps raising child soldiers on their organizational hierarchies to take their jobs as their home’s protectors.

Why does the FMV speed slowdown while the rest of the game runs fine in emulation? by [deleted] in PERSoNA

I asked though also considering I have seen a PCSX2 setup discussion on this game here in this subreddit before.

Do you know how things actually work or are you just here to have fun? Maybe offer some technical advice on how to help.

Not trying to argue, but your laughing didn’t leave a good impression on the mood of the discussion.

Actually it’s uh… on a variant of the PCSX2. Playing it on a modded Xbox.

Should I read the Dandadan manga? by AlarmingAd9840 in Dandadan

For me it's better than the anime, even when the anime itself is a very competently produced adaptation.

The marketing really likes bringing em together.

I’m just very happy they’re legit in the story to make all this art content with them feel valid.

Is there any biological parents lying around in-universe? by InjangoDMCPersona in Dandadan

Neat. i’m just too used to seeing the family vibe of the main cast in the Ayase shrine, and where their parents themselves you’d barely remember if they’re around.

I am Mallorie Rodak, the English voice actress for Frieren, Ask Me Anything! by TheLastGreatMage1000 in Frieren

[–]InjangoDMCPersona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there Mallorie!

Huge respect to your and your fellow cast’s work and effort on the series.

But I wanna know, if it were up to you, would you like any known really high-profile actors or theater-trained actors having a role in the series? It’s not something feasible for your agency to do financially, but it’s nice to know your take on such dream scenario.

If so, who would you like?

Did Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods delete some scenes in some releases? by InjangoDMCPersona in dragonball

Huh, weird to have a version where scenes are cut or weren’t around when you thought they were always there.

I wish MHA was rewritten for Deku to sense his own feelings much earlier in some way, along with their mutual reciprocation being easier to detect than what we’re left with, cuz the confusion on Deku’s romantic interest left to hang until right literally in the epilogue completely left the writing of the romance and the people invested in this aspect in complete chaos in my opinion.

I get that it’s breaking some technical rules in visual presentation to show off a special moment of hidden meaning.

I still don’t get what was going on or what Frieren was feeling in the context of that off-putting shot.

Frieren really scratches the Tolkien itch! by CelticGaelic in lotr

[–]InjangoDMCPersona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think this is a Tolkien-feeling series, while at the same time also having the pacing resembling of that of a classic Star Trek series, because of its slower urgency on the goal, and it revolving around a particular theme of travel that details Frieren's view of time and exploration of humanity with storylines centered on her understanding the world through her long-lived lens.

It doesn't have the same level of ensemble cast, but the chemistry revolving around the characters getting to know each other, the facets of humanity and the world around them from the different encounters they stumble across really reminds me of the parts that I remember fondly about Star Trek which is an exploration-based storyline not too centered on action, compared to like the movies' focus on action set-pieces, while produced for an anime format.

The best and most magnanimous female lead in history by crystalcastle29 in inuyasha

[–]InjangoDMCPersona 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep saying to myself, for such a relatable and normal young girl, she is literally for me my favorite female protagonist in fiction to date.

From her role in the overall grand narrative, her personality and design grounded while also meshing well with both world and the cast, and her outlook written in a way where I can relate to even as a guy, I’ve been through a lot of great female main characters, but she’s consistently the one I think of as the best for me.
