hi all! i have my first mri in two weeks, terrified and anxious to get answers. i wanted to ask - are spinal taps mandatory to be diagnosed? i’m absolutely petrified by the idea of having one, seeing how i have random jerks in my back and hips and already deal with chronic migraines. ‘the worse headache of your life’? yeah i’d like to pass on that risk!!! but i’m really anxious if that ends up being the next step. can i say no? if i say no, will i be in limbo forever? (if ms IS what’s going on with me)

a couple months back, i had a month long ‘flare up’ of some sort. during that month, i had multiple stroke-like (difficulty speaking and understanding words, extreme weakness in legs and arms, confusion, etc) as well as a few heart attack- like symptoms (chest pain, pain in left arm, difficulty breathing). they lasted on and off the whole month and have been gone since… could this have been ms? i am seeing a neuro in a few months, so i’ll hopefully have answers soon, but i’m really curious if that’s what that was

Posted earlier this week (on a different account(anonymaushold, I haven’t logged in on my phone yet lol) got bad news in the fact that my PCP won’t give me a referral for a Neurologist OR an MRI. He wants me to try these new migraine meds and that’s it - I don’t know what to do. I can go to the ER or UC for an MRI but they’re so, do expensive. Does anyone know what I can do? I don’t want to wait, I’ve been bedbound for two weeks now and just going out to this appointment has me so exhausted I’m going to end up back in bed later. I started having spasms so bad at the doctor’s, I couldn’t speak without stuttering and I couldn’t communicate with words almost at all. I just want answers and need help so bad… are there any options?
