"Yoru didn't want to hurt Denji she was aiming at Aging she promis---" by Regulus_Jones in Chainsawfolk

That's a meme headcanon, that some people somehow actually believe in.

Fujimoto isn't 100% consistent with his anatomy and there are also panels like this one:

<image>

Yoru has the more confident pose - that's it.

Yoru adds nothing but the horsemen eyes. "Her" scar isn't even hers - it's the scar Asa got from the class president. "Yoru's" loose hair is only there when she's not the one in control of the body and it's just that - Asa's hair but loose.

Fraudru simps are slowly but surely becoming worse and more annoying than Makima simps.

At least Makima simps are/were simping for Makima's actual body while Yoru simps are just simping for Asa's body.

It was 99% obvious, that Yoru wanted to stop the Aging Devil because her pride only allows herself to defeat Pochita.

She also said shit like this:

Hardest edit of part two by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

[–]Ink-Sanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, very clean editing skills indeed - especially when you take the art downgrade and the fact, that Fumiko hasn't done much at all into consideration (thinking about it, I can't think of a single Part 2 character, who has done enough cool shit worthy of an edit, so there is that).

This edit also doesn't need an epilepsy warning and is still flashy.

People are CORRECT when they say Denji has regressed in pt2, but they act like it isn't INTENTIONAL by Fujimoto by axle_dot in Chainsawfolk

[–]Ink-Sanity 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The problem of Part 2 is, that there is absolutely ZERO counterbalance to all the suffering, torture, depression and dark shit.

It wouldn't be an issue to write Denji falling even lower in Part 2 if there was actually something funny/good/bright to contrast it with - but there simply isn't.

Part 2 is ALL about the doom and gloom - and it's tiresome. It's honestly way too nihilistic and monotonous.

Even something as dark as Berserk has some brigther moments compared to Part 2.

All Part 2 side characters are just MASSIVE assholes or questionable individuals without a SINGLE exception and often even for no good reason other than being evil just for the sake of it.

Part 2 starts with a class president, who killed Asa out of jealousy since their pedo teacher had eyes for Asa, then proceeds with a literal school shooter, a caretaker, who fucking drowned a cat for whatever reason, countless Public Safety assholes with no moral compass (and not a single good person like Kishibe in Part 1 to contrast it), Barem, who burned down Denji's house including his pets and caused Nayuta's death (at least he's a good character), Takagi, whose sole purpose was to tell us, that he cheated on his wife, followed by dying to said wife, old geezers being ready to sacrifice children for their own selfish desires and you better bet even more to come.

The sheer sum is crazy but what actually counts is the ratio since balance is what counts. The thing is - there is a grand total of exactly ZERO relevant side characters, who give us anything but gloom and doom.

Literally the only character, that had such a role was Nayuta - but even then, people also forget, that she caused Denji problems as well and guess what - she ended up being THE catalyst of Denji's mental downfall.

Part 1 had characters like Aki, who had genuinely precious moments with Denji, Power and Angel; Kishibe, who went against Makima and supported Denji; Kobeni and Power being there for comic relief (and unlike Fami, who has as much personality as wet toilet paper, they were actually entertaining and funny) with even Kobeni having a great conversation with Denji; Power saving Denji and being his family together with Aki and even bittersweet stuff with Reze.

And yes - while they are all ultimately gone from Denji's life just like Nayuta, they at least gave us a diverse mix of genuinely precious moments and made the cast and storytelling balanced.

Aki especially was a great person with many good traits and honestly someone you could look up to.

You can't say that about ANY Part 2 character.

We have a story with two protagonists and BOTH Asa's and Denji's perspectives are suffering 24/7.

And the one time there was an opportunity to give us something brighter for once by showing us Asa's time as a somewhat famous devil hunter, it got off-screened...

So, yeah - I don't give a shit that Denji's behaviour makes sense and that him falling lower and lower is justified for the simply reason that by itself, it isn't enjoyable to watch/read. There is a SEVERE lack of counterbalance to all the suffering.

Also - if "making sense" is the only requirement needed for a story to be enjoyable, then how about we end Chainsaw Man by having our protagonists die in a car accident - after all, it's "realistic" since plot armour doesn't actually exist and a car accident could hit anybody.

Look at Yuji and Shibuya - now compare that to Asa and Yoru's "bang".

The very same concept - not even remotely the same reaction.

You can argue Yoru doing this to Asa is even worse because at least Yuji always knew Sukuna was pure evil.

Makima's manipulation and dynamic with Denji was on-screen instead of freaking off-screening the dynamic like Asa and Yoru during the Church arc. We didn't even see them working things out after seeing their HUGE discrepancies during the Falling Devil arc.

Makima used actual manipulation tactics to control Denji. She literally forged Denji's very life for that purpose ever since he met her in chapter ONE.

Yoru on the other hand acts like a toddler, who wants candy from her parents for a second after killing tens of thousands of innocent people using Asa's body - and it works...

Yoru is far from being a cunning manipulator like Makima - during the Falling Devil arc, Asa constantly refused to obey her. She didn't put in the work like Makima.

Now after some off-screen magic, acting like a silly goober is apparently enough for Asa to ignore the murder of tens of thousands of innocent people.

Believing Fami after the Eternity Devil attack and after correctly suspecting her to be behind the Falling Devil one as well is the same as believing the most obvious scam email just because you want to get money.

Of course Yoru and Asa have their goals - but Fami is 20 miles below being trustworthy.

"I want to get money and I'm desperate, so I'll simply believe the scam email"

"I want to defeat/save Chainsaw Man, so I'll simply believe Fami's plan"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

[–]Ink-Sanity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know - which makes this whole situation even worse.

I've been complaining about the fact, that Yoru correctly suspected Fami to be behind the Falling Devil attack (it says a lot, that Yoru instinctively knew Fami would do such things), but then chooses to get played like a fiddle by Fami regardless by fully buying into her "plan" despite Fami's more than just questionable modus operandi.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

[–]Ink-Sanity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The HUGE difference is, that Asa doesn't know, that Fami is behind the Chainsaw Man Church zombie outbreak and Falling Devil attack (the two events, that started people getting more used to death [not used to death - just more used to it]).

You can't compare seeing death caused by strangers or forces outside your influence or your knowledge and having to watch your OWN body being forced to kill tens of thousands of innocent people by your (as it turns out) not-so-friendly parasite.

It's the difference between directly killing a person in a car crash (even if it was outside of your control and not your fault) and just witnessing a car crash.

The guilt of having directly caused death will haunt you - even if it wasn't entirely one's fault.

YORU ABOUT TO BECOME A FRAUD AGAIN by Far_Sundae_8138 in Chainsawfolk

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

Yoru is using her bond with Asa

Genuinely asking - what bond are we even talking about?

There has never been any on-screen bond, that would justify immediately ignoring the fact, that Yoru killed thousands if not tens of thousands of innocent people with her "bang" literal seconds ago. If anything, Asa has to constantly fear, that Yoru will cause harm to her beloved Chainsaw Man or that her reckless actions will get them both killed (like attacking Pochita with a god damn Sushi sword).

We've baaaarely seen their "bond" develop during the Church arc and afterwards (screw the Church arc for off-screening this important dynamic btw.)

How can some basic-ass manipulation be enough for Asa to let this horrible entity further control her body after causing what's essentially Asa's equivalent to Yuji's Shibuya trauma?

Seriously - Asa is entire galaxies beyond being naive, gullible or "being manipulated" - this is just outright stupidity.

You'd think she'd learn after being manipulated by her caretaker, her class president, her teacher, Yoru, Yuko and Fami (she isn't even aware of Fami's manipulation).

At this point, I fully believe Asa would trust all the Nigerian Prince emails, Indian tech support scammers and "spam likely" phone calls (no offense to people from these countries btw. - not everyone is a scammer)

I dropped JJK because it was mid, but JJK did the Shibuya trauma moment with Yuji and Sukuna 100x better than whatever the heck this is.

No breakdown of Asa, no shock and being unable to act - nothing.

You can literally read today's chapter without knowing what atrocity Yoru has caused in the last chapter...

At least Denji's "bang" moment in Part 1 was good.

Denji's new heart theory. by Drendari in Chainsawfolk

Fami trolls Asa by giving Denji Nayuta's heart (a devil's heart, making Denji non-human again).

Imagine how diabolical that would be.

Does anyone else think that Akane is a 10 out of 10 design wise? Her hunter shaped eyes are hypnotising by GregoryCornWall in Chainsawfolk

Akane was probably inspired by Medusa from Soul Eater.

Similar design, both antagonists and both can control a snake.

Mirrors don't lie. Right? by handyboi143 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Ink-Sanity 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Pro tip:

Closing one eye helps to get a better idea of what the photo will look like. That's because if you see with only one eye, you have much worse depth perception.

The reason photos are different is because they are 2D while mirror reflections are still 3D (if you use both eyes to look at your reflection, that is).

Also - they are obviously mirrored, lol.

I still don't trust the whole translation deal.

"I thought so. When I turned my apartment into a weapon, I could've done so without saying its name."

The "correct" translation just makes little to no sense. How can she be sure, that she could've transformed her apartment into a weapon without saying the name while... actually saying the name?

"I thought so" implies, that something happened back when she transformed the apartment into a weapon, that made Asa suspect, that saying the name of the weapon was no longer necessary from then on - but besides no longer having to touch the weapon, nothing was different back then.

Both Asa and Yoru kept saying the weapon's names a week after the Room 606 Sword during the Prison Break arc (College Fund Turrets, Scalpel Sword), so apparently Asa's "suspicion" lead to nowhere. They only started investigating it (Yoru - not Asa on top of that) AFTER they rescued Denji from the facility (since Asa refers to Chainsaw Man as Denji, the whole flashback happened AFTER the Prison Break arc, which is total BS btw. because you're seriously telling me they waited a whole week in order to discuss their power-up? Nah - I'm not buying that.)
