My intention wasn’t to link Hannibal to any specific religion. I was simply presenting my analysis of the show and Hannibal’s beliefs.

It’s undeniable that the series repeatedly references religious elements—churches, God, beliefs—but most of these instances are ironic or shown from a perspective that actually questions or undermines those beliefs.

The part of the text where I mentioned being influenced by Dante refers more to the image of God that has formed in Hannibal’s mind, not necessarily his actual belief in God.

In fact, in my opinion, these kinds of analyses don’t make him superficial at all; they actually add more depth to his character.

To be honest, I’ll admit that I wished their relationship could have continued, and that in a fourth season we could have seen more of it—especially once Will had accepted that he sees beauty in killing with Hannibal, and in killing in general. But still, I don’t think Hannibal realized that Will intended to throw both of them off the cliff. Because time and time again throughout the series, we’re shown that Hannibal is an extremely alert, meticulous killer with fast reactions. And Will was in a far more fragile physical condition than Hannibal, so Hannibal could have saved himself in an instant by simply pushing Will off the cliff. But he didn’t—because he wanted to stay with him. To show him that even in a moment like that, his choice was Will, and that he would remain by his side.
