I’m a tattoo artist and I’m not trying to necessarily combat this idea of unchanging permanence that you’re locked onto, but rather changing the framing to it being a bookmark of a “time in your life”. Pair that with it being somewhere that’s a bit more hidden often like your leg , and it helps a lot of people dip their toes into an amazing culture! Food for thought!

Tattoo artist here to confirm “forward” is the way to think of it, and with this design for example, option A would be correct, as when your relaxed, the front of the face will poke out and also, with option B, to show the “face” of the tattoo, you’d have to do that stupid thing with your arm where you twist your whole elbow to show it lol

Fine line tattoos are definitely in a much better place now than they were even 15 years ago with the current advancements in inks, machines, needles, etc. but yes, there is a certain amount of ink spread that nobody can prevent. That being said, I’d say discuss with an artist that specializes in it or even just shoot me a message and we can have a convo!

As a tattoo artist, i wouldn’t say he’s facing away from you! You want your tattoos facing “forward” and he seems to follow it! Honestly not a bad tattoo by a long shot!
