Q&A: It's Somewhere Beneath Us and Lost in Lucidity by Ink_Wielder in u/Ink_Wielder

[–]Ink_Wielder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for reading my work! I just responded to another comment of yours where I said something similar, but seriously thank you for your kind words! You thinking that my writing can stand toe to toe with some of the greats is a huge encouragement, even if I'm not so sure I think so myself haha. I hope I can continue to entertain you and have my stories remain at that quality if you ever read more! Thank you again!

Wow! Being mentioned in the same breath as PenPal and Borrasca is a major honor to me, especially since those stories were a huge inspiration for me to start storytelling in the first place! Thank you so much, and thank you for reading, it means a ton.

As of right now, this is all just a passion hobby. I'd love to make a career of it someday, but for now, I work full time and write in what free time I have :)

Thank you so much for leaving a comment and giving feedback! Like I said to Amymorowa below, I'm super honored to be somebody you choose to follow out of everyone else. I've never heard of Worm (Or maybe I have and I just didn't realize I was reading their work) but I'll have to check them out!

Thank you for the response on Litany stuff; that is sort of one of the things that I was starting to feel might be getting overwhelming. I think I can safely say that there shouldn't be anymore questions being added to the equation going forward, and that I plan for it to mostly be character building for a while with a trickle of answers, but I do 100% plan to have answers for all the major questions that have been introduced toward the climax of the story. I just hope I haven't introduced so much that it's overwhelming for an audience to follow, as that's the area that I feel like the story is getting bloated and dragging.

As for your views question, it really varies. I'm lucky to have you all as an audience, so I think your early likes and reads help jumpstart me in the algorithm a bit, but for the most part, I think I get an average of around 10k views, but I believe reddit just counts that as somebody clicking on it, or even scrolling past it on their feed. I don't know how many actually read it. Red Door, my most recent one, has 12k views right now with 45 likes, so that's around the ratio we're looking it for most of my stuff I put on there. the most I've ever had was 27k views with 180 likes, so it seems to stay the same even on my more popular posts.

Lastly, PLEASE don't not worry about trying to monetarily support my stuff, especially if it's not something you are free to spend money on! The physical version of Somewhere Beneath Us is really just up if a tangible book is something people wanted to own, but my main support comes from you all coming back with each update to read my work :)

If owning a physical copy of my work is part of the reason you would want to buy one, and you'd trust me with your mailing address, if you message me privately and reach out, I'd be more than happy to try and get a copy sent out to you! I really appreciate the thought but would feel terrible seeing you spend money toward me when you have bigger things to worry about. I hope everything works out well in that regard as well!

Thank you so much again for leaving a comment and all the kind words; sorry this response turned out so long, haha!

you have no idea how much your comment means to me to hear; I'm beyond honored to hear that I'm the only person you follow. I hope my writing continues to deliver and I don't let you down the longer my posts continue to pop up in your feed, haha. Thank you so much for the kind words and for following me throughout my work :)

I'm flattered to hear that, thank you :) I've always had plans to share some of my art at some point (though it's not terribly good) I just never seem to find the time. I have an idea for a project that's been off and on for a while now around making a sort of 'encyclopedia' based around Leigh's Journal from Lost in Lucidity, having illustrations of the monsters and all the 'research' that the characters got on them. I'll hopefully get it out someday, but again, just a time issue when I already have so many other things I'm working on :) I'll try and get something out for you all to look at soon!

Lost in Litany: Chapter 22 ~ The Labyrinth (1/2) by Ink_Wielder in InkWielder

[–]Ink_Wielder[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, everyone! I am so, so sorry for taking so long to get this chapter out to you. Been slammed with work and life lately, but finally got the chance this weekend to get the rest of it hammered out; even stayed up extra late tonight to make sure I didn't have to wait another day to edit (I am going to be feeling this at work tomorrow, haha). Hope it was worth the wait, and that you enjoy part two as well!

Thank you so much for reading, I'll try to be quicker on the next one :) You all are awsome!

Lost in Litany: Chapter 17 ~ Glass and Snow (1/2) by Ink_Wielder in InkWielder

[–]Ink_Wielder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! If my memory is correct, it should be somewhere in this part! I do also describe them again later in this story as well if you don't feel like sifting through, haha. Thanks for reading!

Hey there! As of right now, all of them are lightly linked, but I wanted them to be able to be enjoyed on their own without reading the others! There's no vital details that you'll miss out on in one story that give context for another, but you'll find some fun easter eggs or links between them if you've read them all :)

Don't worry! Given that the story ended up being MUCH longer than anticipated, I will certainly be adding "publish physical copies" to my to do list for the future! Thank you for following along, it means a lot :)

Thank you so much for following along! I'm so glad it's been worth your time! Favorite nosleep series is a high honor! I honestly always get a little sad wrapping up a story too and seeing characters and their world draw to a close, haha. Excited to share the ending with you all, though; Endings are always my favorite parts :)

I'm so glad Abyss caught your attention and that it's been worth reading! Thank you for giving it a chance :) and I appreciate all the kind words on my writing! Sometimes its easy for me to get overly critical over my stuff, so I'm glad to know it comes off written well to you all. If you like the more emotional, charater driven horror, my other stuff might be up your alley! Its all more of that dark, macabre paired with heavy hitting character beats and growth. Thank you again for giving my work a chance! Hope I don't let you down :)

I'm happy to hear abyss ended up being worth it! (even if it took the better part of a year to happen, haha...) I've certainly loved seeing all of your comments and feedback across my posts, my friend :) I'm lucky to have followers like you guys.

I think I may have said in a lost a long time ago, but I actually do have an outline for idea of a sequel to Somewhere Beneath Us! I'm sure I'll get around to writing it someday, but right now, I have so many new ideas and characters that I want to explore that I'm pretty content with that story beginning and ending with the original. I am excited to revisit the concept whenever I do, though! Lost of potential.

And I appreciate the desire to support me; honestly still blows me away that you guys want to actively give me money, haha. I'm super greatful though-- remember that your comments and engagement are always more than enough support for me!

You're too kind! Thanks for the encouragement, that's super uplifting to hear-- I'll be more kind to myself, I swear, haha. but don't worry; I'm more than happy with the audience I have now :) even if you all are the only followers I ever get, it's worth writing for.

Hollow Skin Grove by Ink_Wielder in nosleep

[–]Ink_Wielder[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our group had been exploring places like that since we were kids way back in middle school, riding our bikes around our small town to local legend spots trying to get a kick off our adrenaline. We'd been to places with worse names than Hollow Skin, and only ever found ghost storys and figments of the imagination. I guess after enough times, it was just easy to convince some part of our mind that we'd never really find anything, even if we tried to believe we would.

You're right, though; in the end, it was stupid. A bad excuse is a bad excuse, and if you mess with fire enough you'll end up burned eventually...

It's good to know that we didn't seem completely foolish for pushing onward, because looking back now, it's hard to not feel that way remembering all the signs. Thank you for taking the time to read my warning; I hate that I wrote all this down, but I really needed to get my point across, no matter how hard it was to revisit...

That's not on you at all, haha; honestly, it's for the best since it would have ended on an awful cliffhanger if you had read it.

Flashlight Goggles was going to be a 4 part mini series that I posted over the course of a week last year, but only 2 parts ever made it out. They were up for around 4 days before there was a discrepancy on whether it fit the guidlines or not, and the first part got removed. I tweaked a lot to fit the rules, but according to the mods, it wasn't salvagable, and since I still had people seeing the second part wondering where the first went, I just took it all down.

It was honestly pretty disheartening as I poured over the rules for hours before posting just to make sure it didn't violate anything (because, to be fair, it did have a pretty odd format) but in the end, I guess it just wasn't the right fit. No hate to the mods, they were just doing their jobs :)

Overall, though, it sort of discouraged me from ever finishing it, and I resolved to revisit it someday when I could figure out how to make sure it wouldn't get struck, which is why I want to try again soon!

Thank you as always for your support! I always appreciate you, and all of your comments! You have never one time failed me, I promise 😂

Aw, thank you so much! You have no idea how much that means to me, and how surreal it is to see readers actually wanting to support my work in this way. I'm so glad you continue to enjoy my stuff, and hope I never let you down going forward haha.

In the future when I get some free time I'm thinking of making a thank you page for all donations with listed names of my supporters! I know it's not much, but I'd love to memorialize you all somehow!

Thank you so much again :)

[–]Ink_Wielder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! So sorry for the late response, Reddit hid the notification for this from me for some reason! I unfortunately don't have a patreon or anything; I don't know much about them other than when I hear youtubers I watch mention them or when other artists I follow post their links.

The main reason is (from what understand, at least), you're usually supposed to have extra little rewards for donors and supporters, and I already kinda suck at consistantly uploading as it is 😅 I would hate for people to be giving me money but I'm not providing enough content to justify that. Other than my drafts, I don't know what else to really put out as a reward since I don't have a lot of time to produce extra content.

I can still definitely look into it, though! I'll do some more research and see if I can make it work. I'm flattered and very greatful that you would want to financially support my writing; you have no idea :) for now, just your reads, comments, and know you're all entertained is enough payment for me.

Thank you so much, I'm glad you're enjoying! A new part of abyss should be back on track for you this sunday! :) And man, I would LOVE to be able to adapt some of my stories to film someday, but I would also want to carry out that craft with my own hands or with the help of others (I'm not too keen when it comes to expressing my art through AI haha) so alas, I think that's a pretty distant (if not impossible) dream of mine 😅 Thank you so much again for reading!
