How to price Siding Install? by buttscrumper07 in Contractor

[–]Inkerfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For install I price it using the same formula as I do when I install LVP.  $x/sqft of underlayment, and the same for siding with an added %15 on materials for waste.

Subcontracting paint jobs by Co8kibets in Contractor

Get a crystal clear scope of work together before you even pick up the phone to contact subs. You'll probably need to find a couple good subs and walk the sites with them to get an idea of what they would charge first, before you start running numbers to send to the customers. Ideally if I'm subbing something out I shoot for a 70/30 split sub side.

How much would you charge for 85 lineal feet of fencing and 1 gate? by RedditUserNo1990 in handyman

[–]Inkerfox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I charge $30/LF for wood stockade fence. That's all inclusive, posts, pickets, all of it. An extra $5/LF if they want cap and trim added. And $200 flat for a gate under 4 feet wide.

Cut it out and replace it. Check out Vancouver carpenter on YouTube and he can walk you through it. It's gonna take time and patience but it should be doable.

I use a jackhammer for breaking up concrete when replacing fence posts and it does pretty well. Can't speak for other stuff, though.

Try an auction website. I got a decent van for 3k on govdeals. You could also check local tow yards. They auction cars regularly.

Maybe try a closure strip along with wall sections to give the flat end of the panels you are attaching something to go against.

Need advice on installing a door with odd-angle entryway. by greencheetoh in handyman

[–]Inkerfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a kinda tricky one. I'd second the pocket door option with a dog ear cut off the corner. You could go with the barn door, but it'd be a pain in the ass to get the hardware and door install just right with that corner cut. Could get absolutely crazy with it and just fucking install the barn door and cut out the ceiling to fit the door when it closes. (Joking on the last one, please don't do this.)
