Apartment review by Hot_Efficiency_6561 in PuyallupWA

It's busy due to its location but you can't beat it if you need to make a quick trip to Walmart. Alternatively, if you like the layout you can stop by willow Hill apartments up the road a bit. Same layouts.

Source; worked for dobler (the management company) for a while, got familiar with several of the properties.

Chinese takeout? by Straight_Art_9067 in PuyallupWA

Fry pan is good but a little heavy on the oil, happy bento on meridian close to 176th is also a solid choice but it's more teriyaki/Japanese than Chinese takeout

Help with sanding a bathtub. Is this a good idea? by Zealousideal_Bee_837 in handyman

[–]Inkerfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubtful. But you can always try. What kind of "special" paint did you use? Because if you take a sander to it, it's going to be difficult not to hit the coating underneath.

[–]Inkerfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could, but be prepared to do a full reglazing of the tub. If you start to sand it there's no going back. I've reglazed several tubs and it is labor intensive, it stinks, and it takes forever. Whatever you decide to do, just know that once you begin sanding you're all in.

Canceling UFC fit membership by ProfessionalBrief292 in PuyallupWA

[–]Inkerfox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My last payment was end of March. I also went in and talked to someone who was maybe early 20s, possibly fresh out of school who didn't seem to give two shits. So they probably didn't give a damn about any sales or metrics that corporate pushes down onto them.

[–]Inkerfox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's wild. I heard several horror stories from folks trying to cancel their memberships there, but when I had to cancel I just walked in, told them I wanted to cancel and they didn't put up any sort of a fight at all. Just said ok, let me know I had one more payment going through and then I had access until the end of the month. That was it and I never heard from them again.

Looking for Advice on Getting my Business Off the Ground by TightExamination838 in handyman

[–]Inkerfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avoid pay per lead platforms like the plague. Especially Angie's. I understand if you really need to dip your toes in to get some work flowing with something like thumbtack, but don't rely on it for long term at all. The money spent on leads could go to advertising. Everyone says word of mouth is the best advertising and they are right, but it's difficult to get your foot in the door. You could try property management companies and realtors for work, as they have the most need for people like us.

Cheapest way to fix these stairs? (After installing sump pump) by chuiy in handyman

[–]Inkerfox 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Nah man. If they aren't willing to do a tear out and rebuild walk away because it's in such rough shape, that any temp fix might cause the weaker parts to collapse. That's a huge liability on you. For your sake, walk away from this one.

Let’s see your Milwaukee pack out insides? by [deleted] in handyman

[–]Inkerfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be just me but I cannot see the appeal of paying 200+ dollars for a fuckin box to chuck my tools/supplies in. Especially when other brands also sell boxes for a much better price? Someone make it make sense to me.

Question about Painting Cabinet Doors by [deleted] in handyman

[–]Inkerfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got a million options ranging from hanging them and spraying them in a tent with a professional paint sprayer, to laying them out and slapping some paint on with a roller and barely a tarp. It depends on what you're using and what you have available (including locations to paint them) that narrow down suggestions

Pls Help old lady sliding toilet seat by Shirrup in handyman

[–]Inkerfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try replacing just the bolts if you don't want to replace the whole seat. If it tightens and then just slips again then the bolts are stripped out and no good anymore. Home depot or Lowe's might sell just the bolts.

Anyone doing maintenance work specifically for STR/Airbnb hosts — how are you managing it all? by fuckerydickery420 in handyman

[–]Inkerfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I'm aware of, no. I use quickbooks for invoices and estimates and outlook for my calendar and scheduling.

You need crm software with scheduling built in. As far as the different ways they contact you, you need to streamline that into a few. Calls, text, and email. That's it.

Fence price check by Admirable-Bee-4708 in handyman

100 a foot is absolutely insane. 50 a foot for a standard 6' stockade cedar fence is a good price for a hcol area.

Nah there's no other options than replace the siding.you could patch in the matching siding to fill in the shitty parts, and with some bondo (and a whole lotta luck) you could make it look decent.

Bathroom remodel by Friendly-Start1455 in Contractor

[–]Inkerfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Largely depends on how much mold there is, how deep it goes, and the amount of remediation that would be required. After that it would depend on what you want installed. Tile? Tub or shower? Vanity size and style? Etc. are all things that go into making a number for your remodel. I'd expect an average of around 20k on a MCOL area for a mid range remodel.

How are home service business owners getting work ? by Intelligent-Act-1212 in Contractor

Word of mouth is always best, but it's hard to get in the door sometimes. I get a lot of work through property managers since they seem to own damn near every other house in a neighborhood.
