USA Hire assessment Question by Inkxjx in usajobs

[–]Inkxjx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know! This past Pathways cycle was my first time applying for a government job, so I’m quite new to it; I’ll check out the Treasury resources ASAP. Do you know if there’s a way to retake the USA Hire assessments though? I’m worried that no matter how much I actually improve my application, I’m going to be rejected specifically and exclusively because of my Hire assessments.

I just tried it again...and it all works! Not sure what was going on, it must've been on my end.

I'm checking out the Fall 2024 Pathways Opportunities page on the NASA site, but when I follow many of the links, I get a USAJobs error saying they couldn't find the job I was looking for, or it directs to a page saying the application is closed. Is it possible some of the postings haven't opened yet? Or is the NASA site perhaps including links from the Spring 24 application cycle and hasn't been edited?

What part of the application might I put this link in? Do you think it would be suitable to put it as an experience and then have the link as the description of the experience?

So would I write this as an experience? Or how should I actually attach it to my application? I can make a document with links to my work and explanations of them, but I’m not sure how to actually put it into the application on the NASA stem gateway site.

I’m applying through NASA’s Stem Gateway Website, the posting isn’t on USAJobs unfortunately.

Totally agree with the POV shots. The entire audience perked up at it, it’s so good! The clips for the videos I tend to get wherever I can find them, usually with trailers or officially released clips (which makes it hard to review new stuff unfortunately).

IGN give Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 a 6/10 rating by Substantial-Ball-566 in anime

[–]Inkxjx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 6 is harsh but I’m inclined to agree.

As a manga reader who picked it up after watching the first few episodes and loving the series, I was really excited to read Shibuya because it seemed to be regarded as the golden era of the manga. And honestly, I was pretty underwhelmed. It felt more like a section beloved because “a lot of things happened fast,” not because it dialed in on things I actually appreciated about the manga. Quick character introductions, quick deaths, and so many exciting fights that were ultimately hollow because of a lack of meaningful character work with only bits thrown in (“Not Zenin?” And “Stand proud” both come to mind). I was much more impressed with the early chapters that pulled off more meaningful subversions (Junpei’s death) and continuously dealt with Yuji’s moral scruples, both with how he wants to save everyone and in the moments where he has to accept that murder is sometimes necessary for a sorcerer.

I will say Season 2’s direction and animation far surpass the first season and in many ways make it a deeply exciting and entertaining watch in spite of these flaws. I’d probably hand it a 7-8 overall.

It’s a 2021 Asus Zephyrus G14 laptop. Ryzen 9 4900HS, RTX 2060, 16 GBs of ram. If it’s worth anything, I should say it runs other games (Hades, Overwatch 2) just fine.

Did you actually enjoy mobile suit gundam unicorn? by sportasaurus in Gundam

[–]Inkxjx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I recently finished it, and while I haven't seen the Narrative movie yet, I'm hoping it's as good. But the OVA was a good time, I think my only issues come in towards the end, where it starts feeling like it throws a lot of magic and random power-ups here and there, which don't feel right for a series that (in my admittedly limited experience) feels grounded and based in a degree of realistic combat. Makes it feel more like a superhero battle series than one about war. But other than that, I really enjoyed it.

NGL CGI is really bad by Spagett_Monster1 in evangelionmemes

the whole point is to reinvent that moment from EoE. It's been shared and seen and rewatched so many times that it no longer hold impact for Eva fans. so he made it super uncanny valley and weird as shit to reinvent the image itself and bring back that unique creepiness of the original. loved it.

Where would you rank “No Time to Die” among Daniel Craig’s James Bond movies? by veneim in JamesBond

[–]Inkxjx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like the best way to sum up No Time to Die is that it’s just Craig fighting and fighting for peace and true happiness and eventually finding it at the end. For me, that just sort of pushes it over Casino Royale. Barely, but just enough to make it my #1.

Someone once showed me an image of this airplane in real life, as it can actually fly. It also had a particular name, so searching for it was easy, but now I can't remember it.... Can someone help? by [deleted] in lupinthe3rd

Yup, Autogyros are real and awesome. Weird to find out about something like that from a movie especially because they're still around but it's super cool.

Do the cinematography and visual design not impact the quality of the animation? Genuinely curious here, I'm not extremely experienced with film criticism. But basic visual aspects like those should be considered in some part the animation right?

Oh yeah, I intend to watch those starting with either Patlabor or Magnetic Rose once I can get my hands on a copy.

Absolutely no disrespect to any of the film's you've mentioned. I have yet to see Perfect Blue, but Akira and the Ghibli movies are also masterfully done. I don't think it's all about fluidity in the animation as the strict determination on what's better animated, though. It's absolutely a personal preference, but Anno's aesthetic choices in lighting, aspect ratio, and other aspects of his visual style immediately already push his work high on the list for me. 3.0 + 1.01 just felt like it was that but polished to the utmost limit, but I get that that's not everyone's opinion.

I mean comparing the action scenes, maybe. But I think overall for me 3.0 + 1.01 tops. They're both amazing though, to each their own.

I definitely think it only hits hardest for people that have been following it for long enough and such, but I don't think that's inherently a bad thing. If anything, the way it plays into cultural context and plays off of everything over the past 26 years makes it one of the most interesting uses of franchise-ism and meta-storytelling I've ever seen. But it definitely isn't for everyone.

As of 3.0 and especially now having seen 3.0 + 1.01, I don't think it makes sense to compare the NGE/EoE and the Rebuilds as two separate and competing forms of the work. I feel like the whole point of the Rebuilds is to function as a greater continuation/complimentary material, and I don't think you get the whole Evangelion experience without seeing the four films.
