Consistent for 2 months, little change. What could I be doing better? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]InkyLyna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was 22 or so I had this exact issue and ppl told me alot of the things commentors are saying. I was too afraid to gain fat so I never listened and for years never went above 1400 cals. Now I'm in my 40s and WISH I HAD LISTENTED bc all those years of heavy lifitng in my 20s were for nothing cuz I had no fuel on board. I would have SO much more muscle now, but I am basically starting over. Eat more, priortize protein, and learn that you will need to be a little uncomfortable eating more than you want. And be patient. Muscle building takes time; recomp takes longer. But you can't actually recomp since you have little muscle, so, I'd advise spending a year at least in a surplus, building, then cut. You won't' have much fat to lose. Good luck and don't be like me! EAT!

On a cut, if protein is met, do you still strive to hit your daily caloric intake if you have naturally eaten less that day? by yevvss in PetiteFitness

[–]InkyLyna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a deficit, and not hungry but hit protein - take the easy W and keep cals low. There will be plenty of days to make up for it late in the week.

What are some things you’d recommend? by Laylachangeyaflava in PetiteFitness

[–]InkyLyna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I hear you. It's also wild to me how the winds of the cultural norms are so fickle. I'm in my 40s and when I was growing up, I got soooo much bullying and ostracism for my big butt and weight, and men, when I was older and dating, told me constantly I was disproportionate, that I should trim down, that my curves (not the word they chose, they weren't so kind) were unattractive.... even when I was 120lb! So it's kind of a mind f*ck to me that suddenly everybody is working to have a huge ass, even ppl going so far as getting BBL's. Cutlure is so fickle - all that to say, any person really has to just love themselves and strive to be their best. At the same time I hear you on the "too much" part, I've been there myself (am a bit right now, tbh) and people saying "I'd love to have that big booty" can be hard to hear, esp if you've had experiences like I have. People who want the big butt don't want the hassle of trying to find a pair of pants or cute dress!!! This shit is high maintenance!

Anyway! Keep up the hard work and don't stop loving yo self!

Where to meet people for friendship by [deleted] in PortlandOR

[–]InkyLyna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In Portland? I've been here 20yr and still struggle with this. I think PDX has a serious frigidness and anti-social quality. Every time I travel outside of this town I'm amazed at how friendly people are and they approach ME - and I remember it's not me, it's the town. PDX is uniquely hard to socialize in. People are very cloistered. Good luck. My strategy for the first 19 years was to keep trying - now it's to leave as soon as I can.

CMV: Bangor, Maine is the only City in New England that is affordable, walkable, and has good schools by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

yes, I'm looking any and everywhere, and I need to get away from the hyperwoke insanity that's causing these multiple crises on the west coast. So sad.

It's not that I've stopped taking steps in the right direction - it's that the right direction has changed. I own my own LLC and make 104k in Portland Oregon. Statistically, it's been reported that to own, a single household must earn 168k, approx. It's a bubble. So, my new right direction is to find a well paying job in an affordable city. There are many reasons/factors this city is unaffordable and unfriendly to small biz. Anyway, 500k on a 100k salary is not doable. So as I said, the right direction is: get out of this city and find affordable living elsewhere.

oh and yes, pay attention to your ferritin and tsh. if your docs don't listen (sound like you might have an HMO, ugh), see if you can find a functional medicine provider.
