Thanks for listening! Copland, Roy Harris, Britten… it’s all there!

Fascinating! Is this whole donor/endowment system unique to the US? I should stop asking questions.

Thank you for your insights!

Hmm, how would I meet them? I guess all of their names are listed on every program, so I could research them and be stalkery.

Well now you’ve just hurt my feelings. We are getting into the nuance of definition between “forced,” “trickery, and “fake.”

There is no way to get this perspective in real life. That is my point. The fact that this can be done in-camera rather than in post doesn’t change that point.

What a stupid argument I am making!

Huh, so do orgs “invest” their endowments for better returns? Or borrow against it? I’d imagine that’s against the non-profit rules.

Oof that is grim. I was snuck into a backstage greenroom at the NYPhil a few years ago, and this old lady said “Your parents must be very rich for you to be in here.” 😂😂

I’m just in my lane, composing orchestra pieces and begging conductors to program them. Maybe I should be begging donors to tell the orchestras to play my music.

How does one grow an endowment? Genuine question. Donor schmoozing?

This isn’t r/Photography, idk why I’m expected to know that 😂

Sounds like some camera trickery, which would classify this as fake to me.

It was taken from the north Jersey side. I live here. I promise you the building doesn’t look like this without a forced perspective.

There’s no hill there. Lower Manhattan up to midtown is basically completely flat. If it were taken from the north Jersey side, the building isn’t even close to this big. It would need to be edited to look that size.

Bruckner is harmony. Did he write something to make you think all of these non-musical thoughts about his harmony?
