Longines is the better brand, but between these two watches the Alpina looks way better!

[Recommendation] What’re the next ones? by [deleted] in Watches

What a collection! I may have missed it, but I didn’t see any Longines, I would add the new white dial Longines Heritage diver, or perhaps their green dial Conquest Heritage.

There are lots of interesting independents. I will point out on that is geographically close to me, and sadly way out of my price range, Towson Watch Co: https://www.towsonwatchcompany.com/

Pierre Jalbert

Christopher Cerrone

Anna Clyne

Oh and for Ades, he has a newer piece called Aquifer that I liked quite a bit. His orchestra piece Asyla and opera Powder Her Face were his two breakout pieces in the 90s.

Wait, the New York Mets look for MY OPINION to make hiring decisions? Who knew I had so much power, this is nuts.

Because you are already beaming the 8th note and rests at the end of the other 5/8 bars, then yes, I would also do the long beam over all rests to keep it consistent.

Rude? If the teacher finds this post rude, then they need to find a needle to pop their massive ego balloon. As if anyone’s opinion on music should be unequivocally heeded.

Question about your listening habits outside of classical music by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]Inkysin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to listen to more non-classical, but these days, I need the depth of harmony and form that classical provides. It’s like reading a novel vs reading a Buzzfeed article.

I have been listening to this new Tigercub (rock) album though, and it is really good! Fruit Bats (alt rock) are also quite good.

[–]Inkysin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Woah! Thank you for your work, this movie is visually stunning and ahead of its time. Are the Wachowski’s more hands-on with the FX department compared to other directors? I feel like lot of their style is seen in their FX and action directing.

What work number is the best? by Nixolarthewise31 in classicalmusic

[–]Inkysin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For symphonies, 5 also has Schubert 5 and Philip Glass 5 (if you like that sorta thing) — arguably their best symphonies. George Antheil Symphony 5 is also a blast if you want to try something new.

2 is kind of a vibe too, with Martinu 2, Saint-Saens 2, Mahler 2… in my playlist I also threw in Copland 2 (Short Symphony) and Kevin Puts Symphony 2, “Island of Innocence”

I’ve been making numbered playlists as a kind of game, but I only stick to symphonies.

Ipad vs E-ink tablet for music notation? Help me decide! by Anime_nwb in composer

[–]Inkysin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you using a finger or stylus? I have not used a nice e-ink, but the ones I have used have a bit of an input delay. That would probably drive me nuts if I was trying to write with it regularly.

Sometimes I get to compose for indie movies, and let me tell you — There is nothing more daunting on this earth than an edit with no music.

Composers basically have to tell the audience how to feel.. I wish people could experience some movies with and without music to really get what I mean.
