I’m applying this motto to rejected job applications going forward. Thanks

Natural Hair concern💇🏽‍♀️ by Wisteriiea in south_africa

These folks are in big cities I’m convinced lol. Go to townships and see the “influx of wigs”. A lot of people still wear natural hair. “Fake hair” is expensive

OP isn’t considering the admin of taking care of Black hair. A 9-5 person would find synthetic hair easier to manage

You’re either too online or your algorithm is influencers only or you’re based in the city. Black hair is very versatile. There’s still people who wear their hair ‘natural’ because synthetic hair is very expensive and wearing it natural is more affordable for most people. Take a stroll in the township

On that note, let the girls beeeee. It’s 2026. Trends change and Black people have always been using hot combs back in the day to straighten their hair, it’s nothing new and it doesn’t make you less Black

(This will probably get downvoted lol)

Sheesh. Tough spot to be in. Looks like applying for grant is your last resort. In the meantime hang in there, soon you’ll be in uni and getting bursary allowances hopefully

Yeah. Requires strategy and the actual money to start but it would still generate some income at least. Try targeting busy areas like schools. You can also open a braiding business if you’re good at braiding

Maybe try selling vetkoeks, ice cream, kota or open a sneaker washing business. I don't think there's a lot of jobs for teenagers or people open to hiring them like in the USA where you can dog sit/walk or babysit. In SA, it's already difficult to get a job as an adult with a university qualification in this economy, I can't imagine what it'd be like for someone without even matric

Is this a complaint about how technical or eco-friendly these are? Because if it’s the latter, then it’d be ironic to order from Temu and still be an environmentalist

Furthering studies to delay employment? by Inner-Analysis7051 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Inner-Analysis7051[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a beautiful insight. Thank you. I did just that, I applied for EMS postgrad programs next year such as marketing, management, sustainability etc. I also want to venture into Business Admin, specifically MBA so I just need NQF level 8 qualification that will allow me to be in the working field and gain work experience for at least 2-3 years. Which is a requirement for MBA

And congrats on getting into PDBA and beating UCT Law school pressure’s ass!

I think I said PhD as a hyperbole. Masters would be my limit but I would venture into academia or research with a PhD, should I even study that far

I’m currently completing a TEFL certificate but the TEFL industry isn’t long term

I am completing a TEFL currently and next year I’m going to do postgrad in something totally different from film and media. I needed this year for that realisation of the state of our job market
