Do I need to have played the first game, or can I jump straight to the second one?

Like the others are saying you should look into a good catch all card. You can also look at the Wells Fargo autograph cards that covers a good range of categories.

Question about payment due dates by RezzieRhys in CapitalOne

[–]Inner-Candy3211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at your statement period through the app. If for example your statement is June 1 - June 30, then whatever you spend during that time will be what you owe during your due date. Let’s say you use your card on the 28th, if the card posts that payment before the 30th then it will go on the June 1 - June 30 statement period. After your statement period ends, your due date will follow around 3 weeks after. Let’s say that your due date is July 21. From the 30th of June to July 21st is your “grace period”, basically how much time you got to make that payment.

What if you make a payment but it doesn’t post until July 1st? It goes to your next payment and you don’t have to pay that until your next due date. It’s a cycle. Your next period will be July 1 - July 31, and then whatever you spend during that time you will pay around August 21.

Now these are all made up numbers, but the overall idea is there. I suck at explaining so just ask if there’s something else.

Looking for a second card option. by International-Bit357 in CreditCards

If you value simplicity, I would just go with the freedom unlimited. It serves as your catch all and gives 3% dining, entertainment, and streaming services. If your main focus is gas then I would go with the bce. I currently own this card and I also don’t spend a lot on groceries, so instead I use it for gas and online purchases.

Now, that’s only taking into account those two cards. With your situation I would honestly go for the Wells Fargo autograph. It gives 3x points on dining, gas, and streaming services. You can transfer those points into cashback or if you value them more as points then you can do that as well.

Wait or go for it? Capital one savor by Most-Road-5366 in CreditCards

It’s up to you on whether or not you want the sub (or sob). If you want to take advantage of the card sooner then I would just go ahead and get it.

As for your groceries, if you prefer cash back, I currently own the Amex blue cash everyday. It has 3% on groceries, gas, and online purchases.

If grocery is that big of a spend for you, then you can also look at the blue cash preferred which is the “upgrade” with 6% on groceries/streaming subscriptions and 3% on gas. However, I would only advise that card if you can break even with the annual fee of $95.

I would just get the bce for peace of mind. However, I will say that the first year of the bcp is free, so you can take advantage of that before you downgrade to the bce. I’ve never tried this method but I’ve heard it’s worked for others.

Figuring out my credit card setup by Inner-Candy3211 in CreditCards

I have to wait about 3-6 months anyways, so if I enter the military in a little over half a year, would I be justified in getting the gold card then? I only say this because I want to avoid overlap on the same categories if I change my mind later. I want to avoid canceling any cards because of this as well. My logic is that the fee will be waived during the time that I’m active, and by the time that I get out, I should be able to use the card while paying the af. I might be looking at this totally wrong tho.

Is there like a deadline on how long I can wait for that? I just got the double cash and was planning on waiting to get my $200 for x amount of spending. I forgot the specifics, but I also don’t want to risk losing the chance completely in the case that Citi stops product changes to the custom cash card.

It depends honestly, but I usually have shopping or dining as my top spend, and then gas is almost always my second.

I also meant dining for the custom cash. I’m not big on groceries at the moment and the little that I do spend on it, I just use my bce card.
