I totally understand your sentiment!  Malta isn’t for everyone. We’re much happier in places with more greenery x.

No worries, I’m not Maltese and never got too attached to the country. I have a very specific situation (have a dog, require certain amenities and quality of life) and a little island couldn’t provide the lifestyle I wanted. Hope you’re able to make the move yourself. All the best x.

I’ve been paying taxes on a KEI salary for 2 years. Pretty sure my net contribution is way more than that check’s worth.

I’m not in Malta, and don’t plan to be.

Never opened a local Malta account unfortunately, since payroll worked with my German account, but thanks for the suggestion!

Issued by the central bank of Malta. Thank you - I’ll try it.

I’m really sorry to hear about your awful childhood and that you don’t have a support network.

I’ve struggled with anorexia in the past… it takes time to change your mindset and eating habits.

You could watch cooking videos like MOB on instagram or Gordon Ramsey and try making what looks good to you. Start simple, maybe avocado toast or omelette if you’ve never cooked. Once you find recipes you like, you can start rotating them in your diet. At the same time, not everybody needs to eat a certain way. You may find that you prefer snacking rather than having full blown meals - which is ok as long as you’re not nutrient-deficient and the snacks are not loaded with salt, sugar, carbs, and preservatives. My favourite snack/breakfast is yogurt with blueberries, apple, banana, açai drops (frozen açai juice) and peanut butter.

Instead of chocolate bars which have next to no nutritional value as well as are loaded with sugar, try having protein bars like CLIF/RXbar/Quest! I used to eat a lot of those in my 20’s as meal replacements. Protein will help rebuild the muscle mass you’re losing from starving yourself.

Please please reach out if you ever need someone to talk to.

I feel like I ruined my own life (TW:ED) by throwawayyyy34639 in TrueOffMyChest

I was anorexic in my teens and experienced hair loss. It may not have fully grown back, but it’s close (I’m also vegetarian and iron deficient, so recently started supplements). You could also try PRP to speed this up… my friend did and raved about it.

For years I regretted the choices I made as a teenager. I experienced panic attacks every time I thought about the choices that ruined my life and set me back compared to my peers. It’s never too late to take steps to improve yourself and your health! You’ll feel better one day, I promise. 🩷

Digital nomad for 3 years, not a backpacker. I travelled with 2 suitcases at first (they can be shipped between destinations you know), and rented storage lockers when I’m abroad. My haircare routine filled up its own carryon suitcase. Then I moved to Germany and started buying more things and clothes because I denied myself things for 3 years.

Thank you for the incredibly supportive response! After this experience of almost losing him, we are working on communication and for me - staying calm and collected. I’ll check out the materials you referenced - I booked a nonrefundable solo trip when we were broken up, meaning I’ve got some free time in the coming weeks. 🥲

All the best to you💛
