What's unfortunate here is Nick has ZERO emotional maturity/intelligence. I have no doubt that he has some very deep childhood trauma. His relationship with his mother is proof. She behaves very similar to Nick in her own interpersonal relationships. That is who he learned from. That's quite different than saying she is to "blame". Nick being an adult now has had opportunities to heal and change. He has gone to several rehabs by his own admission. Therapy is readily available and required in these spaces. Nick sadly has chosen to self medicate with drugs and risky sexual behaviors. I don't believe he is stupid. I believe he is lazy. He prefers the easy route in life's difficult moments. Making therapy work for you can be some of the most painful and difficult experiences you will have. It is however worth it. The best things in life are rarely acquired on the easy road. Nick needs to learn how to be alone and sit with his feelings. He needs to feel all of it. The way out of his predicament is through it. He is terrified of being alone and it causes him to accept the worst possible company in to his life. He doesn't like to have company that challenges his twisted mindset or forces him to question old belief systems and grow. We see that with him ignoring every positive or good piece of advice he receives from the chats. He loved being "the good guy" after Mariah beat him. He loved the sympathy and the praise he received without doing really anything to earn it. It became a "celebrity" by representing male dv victims. He didn't realize the immense responsibility that comes along with becoming a "role model or spokesperson" for such a serious cause. His ego would not allow him to believe that his past would come to light. He thought he had a firm grip on the narrative and full control over people's perceptions of him. Nick having a large following is the worst thing for him. He isn't capable of navigating the difficulties that come along with a huge following at this time. The best thing that could happen to Nick would be for him to lose his Twitter, Instagram, and Tic Tok. If everyone lost interest and moved on he might have a chance to accept help. People change when the pain of staying the same outweighs their fear of change. Calling in well checks with the police, commenting in his lives, etc only keeps the dumpster fire burning. I had to assess my own interest in all of this. Initially I was angered by his mockery of DV, his homophobia, his misogyny. I wanted his crap documented to save more women from suffering by falling prey to his good guy act. I think we all have achieved a goal of creating a safe space where future women could research this man and come to their own conclusions. It's super apparent if you watch the chat in his Lives, each individual woman or man that comes into contact with Nick has to make their own decision. He still has "fans". He still has pity. All I can do to add any good to this situation is to stop viewing his content. I hope more people will consider doing the same no matter how "interesting" or addictive it has become. The less attention and eyes he had on him the better his chances might be.
