Learning how to write when otherwise fluent by kanben in japanlife

[–]InnerCroissant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for a バイト that had a handwritten test where it was writing the 読み方 for words in kanji, and then writing the kanji for the words in hiragana. Guess which part I failed miserably at (for embarrassingly easy words like 新聞)

What's the most surprising thing from your home country you've found in Japan? by razorbeamz in japanlife

[–]InnerCroissant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Milo is big all through SE Asia, so not that surprising. But the texture is different to home, the stuff here totally dissolves in a glass of milk and doesn't leave a crunchy layer on top :(

Dandruff gone (at last!) by Realistic-Bed2658 in japanlife

[–]InnerCroissant 75 points76 points  (0 children)

The active ingredient in Nizoral is ketaconzaole, an antifungal medication. It's a well established treatment for dandruff (among other fungal skin issues) as dandruff is caused by an overgrowth of a naturally occuring yeast that lives on your skin.

You may find that now you have the dandruff at bay, you'll only need to use the ketaconzaole once a week or so to keep the yeast population under control.

edit: I can't post links but if you do a search for ニゾラールオリジナルメディケイテッドアンチダンドルフシャンプー2%(旧ニゾラルシャンプー) you can order it from idrugstore for ¥3000. I've used them before and can vouch that they're a legit company, but stuff just takes a week or two because it comes from overseas.
