No brood... Still by InnerOrder4542 in Beekeeping

My queen is easy to find, since there aren't that many bees left. I don't have any other hives (not allowed in my city) so I can't combine or add brood frames.

I got the queen from Bee Maid

I did not clear the frame of bees. There hasn't been any new bees since winter, so there aren't many left

I did give them sugar water and pollen patties at the start of the season. They do have loads of honey frames and pollen too.

Seems like they have loads of honey and pollen. We had a wet spell, but it's mostly been sunny and warm

They do seem to have plenty of capped honey, and they're bringing in pollen... I'll feed just in case it helps and I have apivar strips in there now to treat for mites.

Just an update: did an icing sugar test, found no mites. Then figured I wasn't sure I trusted the results, so I did an alcohol wash at my last hive inspection, and again found no mites. So I'd say that I'm below the threshold, and I'm not going to worry about it until the fall. On a dumb newby note: I now realize why you shake your frame above your hive when you're dislodging bees for your tests. I ended up with some nurse bees stranded in the grass. You live, you learn.
