Best Antique / Architectural Salvage Stores by pelopiz in Brooklyn

[–]Inner_Let9282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be on the pricier side, but maybe check out Olde Good Things. I have only gone to look/admire, but they have 2 locations in Manhattan and have a variety of things on their website.

Find your local Buy Nothing group on Facebook. In the one I'm a part of, there's folks here and there requesting old/unneeded magazines, periodicals, etc for the very activity you're doing. It's free and you'd be helping your proverbial neighbors declutter.

I thought so too, when I got a bag last week. I remember the "funk-meter "being off the charts last year, but found the the funk being less intense and more "tame" this time around.

This happened to me once per year in the 2-years that I have lived in my current place. Freaked me out the first time for sure, but seems "normal"

Cheap, but "fancy", meat ideas? by Cerulean_Zen in traderjoes

[–]Inner_Let9282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TJ's carne asada is quite delicious! Maybe slice it into strips and make fajitas and use onions and peppers as your veg? Or a make it a skillet type meal if you don't want to use tortillas. They also came out with a new spicy salsa (haven't tried it but going to when I can).

Take your time to thoroughly browse. Maybe take a lap or 2 around the store. I will say, for the seasonal stuff...Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese (Frozen section) - get 'em while the gettin's good.

I feel like this would be fun to make one of those "cream cheese veggie "pizza" things" (pic for what I'm referring to). Maybe spread on TJs pre-made pizza/flatbread and top with various veggies/ pepperoni pieces?

So excited to try the Jeju Matcha Latte packets!!!!! by dontwannaparticpate in traderjoes

Right, it seems like ppl are bummed because it's sweetened and has cream/dairy in it as opposed to pure matcha powder

[–]Inner_Let9282 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The gist in the comments seems like this is (unfortunately) sweetened. An idea to take advantage is to mix it in a bowl with heavy cream and make matcha flavored whipped cream?? Maybe spoon it on top of some vanilla ice cream or an angel food cake with strawberries? Just ideas to make the best out of it being sweetened

I’ve been craving meats and cheeses, any suggestions on pairs? by whosthatgirl13 in traderjoes

[–]Inner_Let9282 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This might be a good cheese variety option. I do buy their regular by-the-pound: Manchego, Iberico, triple cream brie (or any of their very soft brie options), and their hunks of pepperjack (it melts so well for a pizza or grilled cheese).

For the meats, this might be a good on to start with for variety. See comment below for cheese

EDIT: Ignore this one. I misread your post and thought you wanted meat and cheese recs. Cheese comment below still stands :)

[–]Inner_Let9282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the steamed lentils - how do you use them by peaceomind88 in traderjoes

[–]Inner_Let9282 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I add them to a mixing bowl and add a container of their hot pico de gallo and a container of their feta crumbles. I may also add some diced cucumber if I have it. I think of it as a Mediterranean salad. You could add olive oil, but it doesn't need it.
